BET OF THE DAY (Melbourne)

MORNINGTON - Race 7 No.3 - CONCORD CONNIE - Resumes. Trialling super. Dominant maiden win fresh last prep at 1200m then looked a G1 class mare blowing rivals away Flemington. I’m a fan.

BET OF THE DAY (Sydney)

ROSEHILL - Race 9 No.2 - SKYHOOK - Heavily backed fresh but looked in strife turning yet responded to riding and won well in end. Beat al-bar Regal Award in Fred Best before dominant 1600m win in Gunsynd. One to beat.

VALUE BET OF THE DAY

MORNINGTON - Race 3 No.4 - VERDOUX - Resumes. Ran over Explusion fresh last prep in slick time then beat She’s An Artist before splitting Meridius/ Pondalowie. 3 x trials: won well first one, latest was just OK. Some value $8?

Feature race

Rosehill, Race 8 - G1 Golden Rose - 3YO SW - 1400m

1 - 9 - UNDER FOCUS - Way back in worst ground fresh and never fully clear yet ran home hard anyway then month off into Run To Rose and tardy/ old close Vs tempo. Draws in and suited 1400m now. Looks the overs $12 to my eye.

2 - 1 - GUEST HOUSE - Burst through and strong return win breaking track record! Slipper win when still raw and found trouble was superb. 1100-to-1400m 2nd-up and month off is interesting but may well be simply too good !?

3 - 5 - ST GOTTHARD - Had good run in Run To Roses but just wouldn’t go gun-barrel straight (costly ??). Was only 1st-up and key rivals 2nd-up. Gets to 1400m. Can win.

4 - 4 - WARWOVEN - Very good fresh Vs nasty bias behind Guest House then positive ride and wins Run To Roses. Doubt 1400m any issue and draws pole for rails trail run.

5 - 3 - TRON BOLT - Given no hope fresh from mile back. He made up very good ground and wants all of 1400m. Draws wide/ Goes back again?

6 - 10 - CENTRAL EUROPE - Wide too soon in Run To Roses and quite strong all way to line. Draws out again, do they go forward and lead and run along here… ? Hmmm. In wider quaddie for mine.
