The lads have taken a close look at Mornington & Wyong in a bid to find the family some winners.

COLERAINE

Race 2 | 9. Lady Colonist

She was OK last start stepping back up to this trip and she sort of hit the line when she got out so I think today from that soft draw she's going to have run of the race. Rice doesn't have a huge amount of depth in it and even though today's favourite had no luck in the same race last start again tricky gate. There's a couple that go into the EQ but the speed map works perfectly for Lady Colonist.

Race 3 | 1. Newcombe

Again drawn quite well to be able to go forward and be prominent just like he did last start. The good track is a big win for him, he is racing in very fine form albeit without winning but it dropped back in class today makes him very hard to beat.

Race 5 | 7. Digari

This bloke wasn't too bad in town last start in a much much tougher race, I think a big benefit today will be getting back on top of the ground for the first time in a while. Drawn nicely and with Linda Meech in the saddle being back in trip I have a feeling this horse will be put into the race and how tough them late. Best of the day at Coleraine.

Race 7 | 10. Omnic

Keeps knocking on the door and deserves that breakthrough soon and I think up in trip, down in weight and the speed map where he'll control the race makes him very hard to beat. GT is no issue and the danger is Miracle Spin who will need luck from that gate as he will get back! Both go into the quaddie but Omnic is the one for me to win the Cup.

SCONE

Race 5 | 5. Shuda Known

Had a couple of runs in town first prep and a little out of his class but I will say being on top of the ground will also be an advantage. He has tried out well and clearly looks to have come back nicely. Perfectly drawn to stalk the speed and going to be very hard to beat in a race that lacks a bit of depth.

Race 7 | 7. Zumbo

Gets to the 1400 for the first time and I think he's the horse who will appreciate it. Will strip fitter second up after not being bad resuming in a Highway in town. Drawn nicely to have a very efficient run in transit and even though the good track and second up form doesn't jump off the page they have been in better races than this. Will be very hard to beat!

LISMORE

Race 7 | 2. Fukubana

I have a theory where you just back the best horse in a race and hope he gets luck and that's exactly what I'm doing here. Chasing home horses like Know Thyself and Transatlantic is great form for this! 3rd up, good track, star jockey, all big ticks! There will be enough speed to get cover and as long as he does, he wins!

Resumes gelded after a couple of good jump outs and he does normally run well fresh. I like the 1200 metre kick off and from that gate at Mornington I think it'll work for him to be able to sit off the speed and have last crack. Little give in the ground works to his advantage and in an open race with a few unknowns I think this horse can go very close.

Race 6 | 6. Cool Star

This girl looks to have a bucket load of talent and her trials both recently and early doors suggest she's got a fair bit of speed. The gate is a little tricky but I don't think it'll be a concern as she will go forward I think and be on speed. They have taken her time with her and albeit Mornington can challenge a newbie as a debut track I think she has some class and will be very hard to beat.

Race 4 | 7. Whiskey Miss (value)

Forget his last run last prep in a race much better than this and on a heavy track he did not handle. Has trialled up really well and looks like he's come back even better. TC stays on after the trials and no doubt will be positive form the gate. Soft drying track a big win and in this class he will take a mountain of beating.

Race 6 | 5. Profiteur's Fil

Blinkers go on from the perfect gate and another crack at the 1350 after a couple of good runs this prep. He presents fitter again, the two races he has been in this prep are better than this and the good track conditions are perfect. At $2.50 he is a short as you'd want to back him at but there's a reason for it and the setup is perfect.
