NZ Racing tips: Jayne Ivil's Wednesday best at Cambridge Synthetic (30/09)

New Zealand form analyst Jayne Ivil has given her best bets for racing in NZ this Wednesday.

On SENTrack & RSN's Giddy Up, Ivil gave her thoughts on the Cambridge Synthetic meeting.

Race 1 Maiden 1300m

2 – 5 – 3 – 4

Off The Scales has placed in both his race day starts and in both runs he has been defeated by narrow margins. The gelding does lack some ringcraft, but he is improving with racing. Third up and drawn out could be the key with him, an outside barrier might be able to provide a little more space in transit. Showgirl steps out on race day for the first time and has looked professional in two recent trial wins, market support suggest she is capable of a winning debut.

Race 2 BM 72 1300m

4 – 2 – 3 – 1

Happy to side with Confectionist again, the mare is a synthetic specialist and has an unbeaten record of 3 from 3 on the Cambridge Synthetic over the 1300m trip. Michael McNab continues his strong association with the mare and although drawn out, she has the barrier speed to find a handy position. Anton rarely runs a bad race on the track and comes into the race with a 3kg apprentice claim. Perfect Habit is second up, strips fitter and steps up in trip here.

Race 3 Maiden 970m

1 – 4 – 7 – 2

Centurial raced well without winning in his first racing preparation, he has since spelled and resumes without the blinkers and with a nose band on, gear he wore in a recent display at the trials which saw him win under no riding. Apotheosis has fitness on her side and has improved with each outing this prep, third up looks set to peak.
