The 2026 AFL Trade Period is officially open!
The game's most frantic two weeks has arrived, with a number of players set to learn the fate of their futures.
From big-time trades to pick swaps, here is what every list manager in the AFL has had to say as they approach the window.
Jarryd Roughead
On North Melbourne's interest in Nick Murray
"We haven't received anything yet and out of respect for Nick and North Melbourne, we will listen.
"But with the departure of Jordon Butts, it makes it quite hard to entertain something like this.
"This isn't one that's on us."
On Luke Pedlar's desire to join Port Adelaide
"Out of respect to Jason Cripps and knowing that this is my first trade period, this isn't about picking fights or playing a hard bargain.
"I'll wait to hear from Cripps."

How are discussions with St Kilda over Sam Marshall?
"Not too bad. They've got an awareness of what we're looking for, albeit, it's probably not in their hand at the moment - they don't hold a pick in the range we think is appropriate at the moment.
"We would rather have picks for this year."
On Keidean Coleman's potential exit
"Our first preference is for Kiddy to be retained by the Lions.
"He's had a frustrating few years, no doubt, and it's not something we are looking to initiate.
"It would need be be something extremely compelling in favour of the Brisbane Lions for us to even consider it."

Where things stand with Lachie Whitfield
"We're far enough down the line to say that we're definitely interested.
"Lachie needs to work out whether he wants to leave GWS, and in fairness to GWS, they need to make a decision as to whether they're willing for him to leave.
"Those conversations I'm sure will happen overtime."
On Wil Parker interest
"We've definitely got some interest in Wil. Josh Fraser obviously has a significant amount of experience with him at Collingwood.
"It makes sense to bring in someone like Wil."
Full interview:
Justin Leppitsch
On Jesse Hogan deal
"It's good to have most of our deals done at the start of the period with Lachie Neale and Jesse and even Scott Pendlebury heading to the Gold Coast Suns."
On the Scott Pendlebury deal
"Gold Coast didn't want to use anything that was going to effect their Pick 7. Scott's a legend of the club and we wanted to do the right thing by him."
On talks with Carlton over Flynn Riley
"It's going well, we're in good conversation with Carlton. We are very clear over Flynn's value, it's just how Carlton manufacture the other things they've got going on."
Full interview:
Matt Rosa
On Zach Merrett
"We've had discussions with Zach for a little bit now and there's clearly interest in him again. We've caught up with most clubs, we will continue to do that this week."
Are there multiple clubs interested in Zach?
"Yeah, its no surprise with a player like Zach that there's interest in him. We value him really highly."
Are you open in doing a deal this time around?
"We are open to discussing, but we've been very clear around how much we value Zach and there is a contract in place. Hard to predict which way it's going to go."
On Jordan Ridley's interest in Geelong
"It's a high value because we feel he is one of our most talented players and we felt like we were making real gains with his body this year.
"We value him highly, but we will continue to have discussions."
Full interview:
David Walls
On the list
"Don't see a lot of change this year - we have 21 players contracted until 2028 and beyond."
On Nathan O'Driscoll's request to leave
"We had some chats with Nathan throughout the year - didn't really eventuate or get too far. He is going to have a look around. We're a still a little unclear of where that will all sit and where that will land."
On Sean Darcy
"The question is asked of Sean, but we see him as a player that can come in. He's a Doig Medallist and his best makes us better, so we're looking forward to getting Sean back to his best."
Full interview:
Adrian Caruso
On Jesse Hogan
"The discussions we had with his management were that if something wasn't going to happen with us, they didn't want any difficulty getting to another club.
"We're probably not going to use that pick, but we're happy to get Jesse to where he wanted to go."
Were you disappointed with Band 3 compensation for Toby Greene?
"A little bit, given the player that he has been for so long and the contract it was reported he was getting from Geelong, we were hopeful we would get Band 2.
"Once the decision was handed down, we moved on."
How are talks progress with Carlton over Lachie Whitfield?
"There haven't been any real talks started yet. If that's something that they and Lachie want to pursue, we hope that they will come to us with something soon.
"I won't get into specifics as to what we want other than to say that it would need to be a pretty compelling deal to let go of such a quality player."
Full interview:
Andrew Mackie
Have you contacted St Kilda over Rowan Marshall?
"Yeah we have for a while, been proactive with that. Once we got the indication that Rowan wanted to get out we've had the discussion around it.
"There's some work to do - it's not an easy one and we understand that, he is contracted. We are trying to weigh up his value.
"We've got Mitch Edwards who wouldn't have played as much footy as he did this year if we got Rowan last year, so there's some blessings in that.
"We have indicated to Rowan that we would like to bring him in and we haven't given up on that.
"We've sent something through, they've sent something back... there's a bit of a gap there."
On West Coast's interest in Gryan Miers
"He's of interest every year, which is a credit to him. He went overseas - players do their work these days. He is a much-loved player from our end, he loves the club.
"We're pretty pragmatic and open about how we think about most things. It's in the hypothetical bucket right now."
Full interview:
Kall Burns
On the Scott Pendlebury deal
"Really great to get the Scott trade done.
"What it does is gives us flexibility to match the Ben King deal or not."
On Ben King paperwork being submitted by Hawthorn today
"That allows us 72 hours to work through what it looks like - either matching or not matching."
On interest in Aidan Schubert
"Aidan is a player we've tracked for a number of years. We see him as a player that would help our list."
Full interview:
Mark McKenzie
On Ben King
"We're going through the phase regarding free agency. The first phase is putting through the paperwork, then it goes to the opposition club in regards to their decision. We go through all the scenarios prior - match, no match - but for us, the job is just to put through the paperwork - either today or tomorrow."
Any talks regarding Aidan Schubert heading to Gold Coast?
"I haven't had any conversations regarding Aidan Schubert going anywhere. We contracted him earlier in the year - we see him as a valuable and good key position tall that's developing nicely."
How do you get the Zach Merrett deal done?
"Not sure yet. We've been having ongoing conversations with Essendon. We're still working through that but our interest remains."
Full interview:
Tim Lamb
What are the priorities this trade period?
"We've got a commitment from Zane Duursma who would like to join the club, so that's something we will look to achieve over the next couple of weeks.
"Then, we've got a real strong focus again to go to the draft this year."
Have you had any conversations with North Melbourne yet?
"We've had a couple of chats but very preliminary at the moment."
What do you see as the trade cost for Duursma?
"We think it's an easy one to value, but our position and North's will probably be a bit different. We're confident that we will get there."
Are you looking at Will McLachlan?
"We've got a genuine interest in Will, so we will see what happens over the next couple of days."
Full interview:
Brady Rawlings
On Zane Duursma
"It depends on what Melbourne are willing to put forward. We'd love to keep zane - he's got so much poitential and weve seen it in parts over the last three years and we see him playing a major part for us.
"We value him really highly - we still think we can talk him around."
Is there a chance he remains at Arden Street?
"There's no bad blood; he indicated that he wanted a fresh start, but I'm sure he and his manager understand what we have invested in him. If it's not of value to us going forward then we'd be really keen to talking him back around to staying at our football club."
Has he been open to those conversations?
"Not at this stage. But if it's not of value to us, and what we can use going forward, then we'd be really keen to talking him back around to staying at our football club."
On conversations with Adelaide over Nick Murray
"We've had a couple of chats - we will put something to Adelaide today.
"We've got a real need for a key defender, and this year we've identified one that's fallen out of favour. He wants to come to our club, we want to bring him in but we know we're going to have to give up something handy to get it done."
Full interview:
Jason Cripps
How are talks progressing with the Western Bulldogs over Zak Butters?
"It's a little bit slow at the moment. We've had some conversations with the Western Bulldogs; they're really clear on what our expectations are and they are getting to work. Early days, but not sure how it's going to play out at this stage."
What do your expectations look like?
"Lots of picks and lots of points is our objective - whether that comes from the Western Bulldogs directly, who knows. There's other clubs that we are talking to, and we're exploring the market of what Pick 4 looks like, what Pick 5 looks like, if we go down the path of compensation. We've taken a view of three years, not just an individual trade."
Full interview:
Blair Hartley
Are you open to Jayden Short leaving the club?
"He came to us and was keen to explore his options. We said we would listen to those. He has a contract for the next two years, a bit to work through there."
Full interview:
Lenny Hayes
How are talks progressing with Geelong over Rowan Marshall?
"They are still ongoing. There's been some discussion - probably still haven't settled on something that suits both clubs at this point in time."
Is it true that you want a player and a first-round pick in a deal?
"I'm not going to go into specifics as to what's been discussed form their end and form ours. It's fair to say there's still a bit of work to do to get a deal done."
Are you open to strike a deal?
"I think it can get done, but from our end, Rowan is a highly valued member of our team and he is contracted until next year. At this point in time, there hasn't been anything that has satisfied us. We've said to Rowan that we are happy to deal in good faith, but it has to be something that we feel suits us as a football club."
Full interview:
Chris Keane
Will the five suspended players be back at Sydney next year?
"yeah I do. They are contracted players and required players, so we expect them to be back at the club/
Have there been any conversations with any of them about a move?
"No, we've had no indication that any of them are seeking any other opportunities. As I said, we expect them to be there."
Have you had any conversations with Nick Blakey about coming back to the club?
"We've had no indication form Nick or his management about that. Nick's got five years to run on his contract, so like the other four boys, we expect him to be back at the club next year."
Full interview:
Matt Clarke
Where do things stand with Gryan Miers?
"(The medical) was reported and we confirmed that this morning. Management have been great to deal with and Geelong were aware.
"Gryan was heading overseas, so if anything was going to move in the next week and a half, we needed to have something like that.
"I think it's unlikely that Gryan makes a move west, but we are still opened to it - it's more if Geelong are."
How have conversations tracked with Geelong?
"I haven't had any formal conversation with the Cats yet."
Is Gryan interested in the move?
"I think he's a pretty loyal guy and they're playing some pretty good footy at the Cats.
"He obviously had a slight interruption with the injury this year, but he is pretty committed there.
"We will do our best, but obviously there is a tipping point to how far we'll go."

Michael Regan
On how a deal for Zak Butters gets done
"There's multiple levers we can pull in terms of getting a deal done, but the first port of call is Port Adelaide deciding whether they want the compensation pick.
"Once that happens, we will enact those various options that are available to us."
What have communications with Port Adelaide been like?
"They've wanted to have an indication on what we would be prepared to do should they not accept the compensation pick, and we've had some conversations around that.
"We've basically given them all the information that we can at this point in time to help them make the best decision for their club."
