Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) will continue its unrivalled commitment to cricket coverage this October, broadcasting every ball of the Australian Men’s cricket team's three-Test tour of South Africa.
Beginning on Friday, October 9, the highly anticipated series marks Australia's first Test tour of South Africa since 2018 and shapes as a pivotal contest in the current World Test Championship cycle. The three-match series will be played at Kingsmead, Durban (October 9-13), St George's Park, Gqeberha (October 18-22) and Newlands, Cape Town (October 27-31).
SEN will be on location for all three Tests, with Gerard Whateley, Adam Collins, Tom Morris, Bharat Sundaresan, Simon Katich and Vernon Philander leading the network's comprehensive coverage from South Africa.
Cricket fans across Australia will be able to tune in every evening from 6pm, with live coverage airing across SEN Nationally in prime time, making the series the ideal soundtrack for the commute home and beyond.
The tour carries added significance as Australia returns to South Africa for a Test series for the first time in eight years, renewing one of world cricket's most compelling rivalries. The series concludes at Newlands in Cape Town, ironically also the venue of the third Test of Australia's last tour to South Africa in 2018, now infamously referred to as ‘Sandpapergate’. With an already fierce rivalry between the Aussies and the Proteas, a re-match on South African soil for the first time since one of the most controversial moments of the modern game is not one to be missed.
That 2018 tour also represented one of SEN's earliest ventures into overseas Test cricket broadcasting. Since then, the network's cricket coverage has grown significantly, with the opening Test in Durban marking SEN's 61st consecutive Australian Men's Test broadcast, underscoring the network's long-standing commitment to bringing fans world-class cricket coverage wherever it is played.
SEN Chief Executive, Craig Hutchison, said the tour represented another important milestone in the network's continued investment in cricket.
"This is a hugely significant series for Australian cricket and one we're incredibly proud to be covering on location from start to finish,” Hutchison said.
"Australia's return to South Africa is one of the most anticipated Test tours in recent memory. The rivalry between these two nations has consistently produced compelling cricket, and there's enormous interest in seeing this Australian side return for its first Test series there since 2018.
"This tour also carries particular significance because it concludes at Newlands, a venue now perhaps most famous for being the location of ‘Sandpapergate’. It provides a natural marker of how far the game has moved forward and how much SEN's cricket coverage has grown during that time.
"That 2018 tour was one of our first major overseas Test broadcasts. Eight years later, we're preparing to call our 61st consecutive Australian Men's Test match, which reflects the strength of our commitment to cricket fans and our determination to be wherever Australia's teams are competing around the world.
"We've assembled an outstanding commentary team featuring some of cricket's most respected broadcasters and former players, ensuring listeners will enjoy expert analysis and insight throughout what promises to be a fascinating series."
