West Coast has taken an interest in former Magpie Bobby Hill.
Failing to mount an AFL appearance in 2026, the 2023 Norm Smith Medallist was cut by Collingwood, having waivered in his commitment due to personal issues.
However, after spending time out of the game, Hill has confirmed his desire to return to top level football.
Clearly capable of starring at the elite level, Hill has confirmed that he is conducting his own pre-season in attempt to land himself a spot on a list ahead of the 2027 season.
The AFL have officially implemented a new list rule that permits up to two First Nations players to train on with the team, with each club opening up an additional Category B Rookie List spot solely for First Nations players.
With that in mind, West Coast list boss Matt Clarke has confirmed that he and the Eagles will be keeping a keen eye on Hill’s progression over the off-season.
“Anyone of that sort of talent, and proven talent as well, on the biggest stage, you need to look at,” Clarke told AFL Trade Radio.
“Like most clubs, I would have thought, we are doing our diligence around Bobby and how he is tracking.
“It would be great if he could get himself back to a great frame of mind and physical shape and give himself a shot back in AFL footy.
“Obviously, he has had his challenges, but he is one of the guys that we will assess for a potential position in that space.”
At 26 years old, Hill has the potential to deliver top-line football for a number of years.
“That’s all I grew up knowing, footy, footy, footy and that was my Plan A and not having a plan B or C,” Hill told Channel Nine in late September.
“I just lost my love of the game, and now I want to get back into it. I do miss it.”
