Kane Cornes has shared his top 10 hot and cold players in the competition which includes some huge selections.
The list includes a 2026 All-Australian, a co-captain and four premiership players!
See Kane’s list below:
“Has the ability to get very hot when the Hawks actually settle him in a position that he's suited for, but how often has he run hot, would you say?,” Cornes said on SEN Summer Run.
“I would like to see a bit more hot and a bit less cold from my boy Josh Weddle.”
“Darcy Fogarty kicked 10 goals in his first eight games of the season, kicked 24 in his last eight.
“I think Darcy Fogarty, he's probably just a handy forward who is going to average 1.8-2 goals a game."
“10 times this season he had 20 disposals or less. 10 times.
“Now when he's been good, he's been really good. Like he's very capable of getting 25 and kicking 3 and been a huge factor."
“Some days, and you can tell within the 1st 3 minutes of a game, Cam Rayner's in a mood.
“No one can tackle him, he's powerful, he's running on top of the ground, he's impacting.
“And then other days you get halfway through the fourth quarter, you look at the stats, he's had nine disposals."
“Eight times this season under 10 disposals and 13 times one goal or less.
“So it can be very much hot or cold.
“And yeah, the nature of the position, competition for goals is hot in that forward line, and it's how they function collectively, which was very good."
“Is it a Sicily, ‘I'm going to give away two 50 metre penalties and five free kicks against, or am I going to be dominant across halfback, marking everything, slicing the opposition by foot’.
“It will be one of the two for Sicily.
“Now he's more good than bad, Sicily, but can run hot or cold.”
“Is it the frustrated Mac? But he can run hot, like he finished third in their best and fairest.
“It’d be him or Sicily on the podium, for easiest players to get under the skin of.”
“This will be controversial, because he's an all-Australian, believe it or not.
“He can rip you apart with 30+ and 3 goals on any given day, which he did a couple of times.
“He went back-to-back after he won the King's Birthday medal. The following week he did it again.
“But then I saw him play this year where he just looked disinterested and hardly seen for halves of footy. We just watched him at Adelaide, and he just did not want to be there.
“If he can just bridge that gap, particularly when he's tagged, he's quite easy to tag to Kozzy, I reckon.”
“23 of his 48 goals came in four games. In 13 games he kicked one goal or less, The Package."
“He kicked five or more four times, so 22 of his 42 goals came in four games.
“He went goalless seven times.
“This is a team that was pretty adventurous with the pill and winning games goalless seven times when you are the main focal point in that position.
“He just needs to bridge the gap, so in his bad games, he gets 10 disposals and two goals, not nothing.”
