Friday night thoroughbred racing is in Launceston for the fifth consecutive week, with eight races programmed.
Warm weather in Launceston should result in a good-rated surface unless the forecast Saturday rain arrives early.
The rail moves out to +9m 1200m-W/Post; +7m Remainder.

Race 6 – 4. Jenni the Cat
The market suggested Jenni the Cat was ready to go first-up, and that was certainly the case, winning impressively over 1100m in a race where the trifecta put a margin on the rest. She jumps from 1100m to 1400m, but I think she has a bit of x-factor and could be in for a big preparation.
Race 3 – 1. Toorak Lad
Toorak Lad has always shown ability, but it took until start five as a 5yo to finally break through for a win. The performance was emphatic and suggested that he could be a horse that can work through the grades quickly. Up to 1400m third-up should suit and the awkward draw appears to be baked into the each-way price.
Race 2 – 1. Sorell Eagles
I have to have a crumb on Sorell Eagles at a triple-figure price. He’s been out the back in very slowly run races in Launceston at his last couple and hasn’t been tested in the run to the line. He’s shown at different stages that he’s up to a race like this, and just needs a different level of intent and a race run to suit. The market fancies are clearly the ones to beat, but it’s a maiden with a long tail, which could see Sorell Eagles run into the money.
