With AJ Brimson exploring his options beyond the Gold Coast Titans, Joel Caine has named the two sides that should be after his services.

Since debuting in 2018, Brimson has tasted little success in his NRL career, with the Titans only making the finals once in his nine seasons. In that same time, the Queensland representative has had four permanent coaches following Josh Hannay’s appointment at the end of last year.

As a result, Justin Horo believes a move away from the club is the best thing for the versatile back to join a more successful environment.

“How many times, if you're AJ Brimson, can you hear a coach coming (in) and going, we're gonna change the culture, we're gonna get back to our grassroots here in the Gold Coast Titans, we're gonna bring products through,” he said on SEN’s The Run Home with Joel and Fletch.

“He's one himself. It's probably got to the point now where, not because he does not care (but) you can only hear the same message or different versions of the message so many times before it just starts going in one ear out the other.

“Brimson's been through four or five of these (coaching changes) now, maybe there's just that frustration and that burning to win because they haven't had many winning seasons since he's been there.”

With Brimson set to leave despite being contracted to 2030, the PNG Chiefs have emerged has the likely landing spot for the 28-year-old.

The expansion side have reportedly offered a three-year deal to Brimson worth just under a million dollars per season.

Despite their interest in the England representative, Caine thinks there are two clubs outside the Chiefs that should be after the Titans product.

“Brimson does need a change; he does need a change and to be assured to go somewhere and say, ‘Mate, we're backing you as our fullback, right?’” Caine explained.

“I'm a Will Kennedy fan. I think Will Kennedy is heavily underrated in the National Rugby League. He's a very good player.

“In saying that, and I do think you can win a competition with Will Kennedy, I think he's a very good player. But I do think the Sharks need to look different.

“They need to look different. They've looked too similar for a while now, and they need to look different.

“I don't know if it's a swap deal, but I think Brimson at Cronulla would benefit them. I think Brimson at Canterbury would benefit them.”

Ahead of November 1, Gold Coast will lose Phillip Sami and Jaimin Jolliffe whilst gaining Luke Hanson and Mawene Hiroti at this stage.
