Australia's footprint in professional wrestling is continuing to grow with just over a month away until the WWE returns to our shores for another premium live event hosted in Perth, which includes two international television broadcasts as well. Following the success of Crown Jewel last year which was headlined by John Cena's final international pay-per-view appearance, RAC Arena will host Wrestlepalooza on December 12th and will be shown live worldwide on Netflix.
Speaking exclusively to SEN, WWE superstar Kit Wilson said the popularity of wrestling internationally is outshining the fanbase domestically in the United States.
Since the WWE's first Australian live broadcast "Super Showdown" in 2018 from the Melbourne Cricket Ground, there have been two more premium live events in this country - Elimination Chamber in 2024 at Optus Stadium in Perth, and Crown Jewel last year at RAC Arena.
Wilson continued his praise for the Aussie exports in the WWE highlighting the comraderie in the locker room from the foreign talent.
"There's a certain bond there because you know what the other one's been through so I do like a lot of the Australians, you know, Grayson Waller, Rhea Ripley, Bronson Reed. We kind of bond a lot and we have a lot of similar interests."
In addition to the live events in Perth, the WWE will also be returning to Melbourne and Brisbane on December 9th and December 15th respectively before heading to Auckland on December 17th for their first visit to New Zealand in a decade.
