NZ Racing tips: Jayne Ivil & Mark Claydon's Saturday best bets (07/11)

New Zealand form analysts Jayne Ivil & Mark Claydon have given their best bets for racing in NZ this Saturday.

On SENTrack & RSN's Giddy Up, both Ivil & Claydo had a look at Riccarton & Te Rapa.

Race 4 BM75 1100m

2 - 10 - 9 - 5

Toronto ended last preparation a winner in this grade at Riccarton back in May. He has returned from a break and trialled on three occasions leading into his return, this is a different path than we usually see. Toronto is a known second up winner but usually kicks off after just one trial. His build up gives the impression they are primed for a bold showing. Floor Moerman takes the reins and is riding Riccarton with a 20% winning strike rate this season. Queen’s Evidence is fit and an inform last start winner at the track.

Race 6 Listed Pegasus Stakes Open 1000m

1 - 3 -12 - 5

Platinum Attack won this race 12 months ago and is coming into this year's edition in the right form after a decisive last start win at Ellerslie. He is proven at the 1000m trip winning 3 of his 4 starts at the distance. There looks to be plenty of speed on paper which should suit his racing pattern. Charmrose has never raced at 1000m but given her speed should be suited to the distance. Barrier 1 is an advantage as she is a natural pacemaker. North England is the interesting runner, a dual stakes winner in Australia as a 2YO, he has trialled well in slick time leading into his NZ debut.

Race 8 Listed Metropolitan Trophy Open 2590m

10 - 9 - 1 - 3

The Precursor is a lightly tried six-year-old who has had the NZ Cup as his main target this preparation. He has continued to improve with racing and was a second up winner at 2000m, his final lead up was back to a mile, but he ran a terrific final furlong to finish 4th. Drawn to get favours in the run. Just Charlie is looking for back-to-back Metropolitan wins after claiming this race last year, he has had a similar preparation and comes into the race 5th up.
