Lukosius a “no brainer” to go at pick one

2018-10-04T13:28+10:00

Former Hawthorn list manager Gary Buckenara says young South Australian forward Jack Lukosius is a “no brainer” to be taken with pick one at this year’s National Draft.

Lukosius and Vic Country midfielder Sam Walsh are the two who are being tipped to be selected with the coveted number one selection after the duo had outstanding Under 18 National Championship campaigns.

Buckenara believes the Woodville-West Torrens prodigy has the attributes that are tailor-made for the modern game.

“He’s just a beautiful, tall, athletic mover of the modern-day footballer,” Buckenara told SEN Afternoons.

“He takes a good mark, he’s a beautiful kick, so he’s very suited to the modern game.

“He’ll be a very good utility type player, I think he’ll play in a number of positions.

“I just think he’s a no brainer.”

LIKELY NUMBER ONE PICK A READY-MADE AFL PLAYER

The four-time premiership Hawk is also a big wrap for one of Lukosius’ South Australian teammates.

“The other one is another South Australian in (Izak) Rankine, who’s a really good midfielder,” Buckenara added.

“That’s why Adelaide and Port Adelaide are that keen on getting early picks.”

The 2018 National Draft will take place on November 22nd and 23rd at Marvel Stadium.
