2018-03-27T07:34+11:00

SEN newsman Sam Edmund has explained who was behind Adelaide’s preseason camp, with a group called Collective Mind aiming to unlock the power of the brain.

The Crows used the company last season, and have since signed an exclusive two-year deal with them to continue exploring the dynamics of mindfulness training.

Edmund has discussed who runs the program and what they hope to achieve.

“The Crows last year signed a multi-year deal with a group called Collective Mind,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“That’s created by two Aussies, Amon Woulfe and Derek Leddie.

“They specialise in lifting performance through the mind in elite teams, not just sporting teams, but corporate teams as well.

“They came up with the Crows’ power stance last year.”

Speaking on the Collective Mind website, captain Taylor Walker and coach Don Pyke praised the benefits that comes with the unique training method.

“It’s super important for our footy club and myself to be able to continue on the mind training,” Walker said.

“I think it is just as important as the physical aspect.”

The coach echoed those sentiments.

“The value for us in mind training is we have made a lot of progression on the physical side, but the frontier that hasn’t been tapped into considerately is the mind space,” Pyke said.

“The mind controls the body.”

However, it has since been reported by Fox Footy some senior Adelaide players are still feeling “distressed” about the camp, with elements such as blindfolds being used.

This has led to former Melbourne captain Garry Lyon asking, “how much is too much” when it comes to pushing the limits to find a competitive advantage.
