Sydney not giving Hannebery to St Kilda talk “any oxygen”

2018-08-13T09:30+10:00

Sydney’s head of football, Tom Harley, insists the club will not be affording too much time to any trade talk surrounding Dan Hannebery.

During AFL Nation's pre-game show on Friday, St Kilda’s General Manager of Football, Simon Lethlean, confirmed that he had held talks with the management of Swans midfielder Hannebery.

However, Harley says Rounds 22 and 23, as Sydney look to cement in a spot in the top eight, are far more important than the upcoming trade period.

“We don’t talk about it publicly but with regards to that comment from Lethers (Lethlean), that’s alright and that’s fine,” Harley said on SEN Breakfast.

“He reached out to say that that’s what he was going to do.

“He’s (Hannebery) contracted from our end and certainly hasn’t asked for a trade.

“We won’t be giving it any oxygen for the remainder of the year. We’ve got a season to play out this next fortnight.

“Dan’s a really important part of that so that’s our position on it at this stage.”
