2022-10-20T08:20+11:00

The countdown of Kane Cornes’ top Australian football journalists has continued.

The Port Adelaide great and SEN media star had released his list from 22 to 11, but now we really get to the pointy end.

“Some of the ones that are up high now can go print, radio, and also personality,” Cornes said on SEN Breakfast.

The top 5 will be released on Friday.

See 10 to 6 below:

10 - Jake Niall (The Age)

“The chief footy writer at The Age.

“I do really enjoy his company, not that I’ve spent a lot of time with him.

“He also does a really good podcast on a Monday which is off broadway a little bit.

“He breaks stories and is a magnificent writer.”

9 - Jay Clark (Herald Sun, Triple M)

“Jay Clark at nine with a bullet.

“I think he’s got a lot of potential and has a really nice nature about him.

“He’s a good radio talent as well. He’s a multi-journo.”

8 - Sam McClure (Nine Entertainment)

“He’s going to be really flat that he’s this low because he’s pretty comfortable in his own skin, is ‘Scoop’.

“If you take the trade period off and go overseas, you can’t be in the top five. The trade period is when the whips are cracking for these folk.

“He took the trade period off and that’s why he has slipped a little bit.”

7 - Sam Landsberger (Herald Sun)

“He had a huge year.

“He was all over the umpire situation and the treatment of umpires.

“He was all over the Andrew Thorburn story.”

6 - Russell Jackson (ABC Sport)

“He broke probably the biggest story this year, so I’ve got him at six.”
