Which players should have been given coaches votes for their Round 10 performances?

Champion Data’s Daniel Hoyne has named the four players who were perhaps overlooked by the coaches on the weekend.

The below guys ranked high in Champion Data’s ratings yet did not receive any votes, while one player got 10 votes from the coaches but ranked lowly.

Hayden McLean (Sydney)

“That was the third best game of his career,” Hoyne said on SEN’s Sportsday.

“Two goals and his pressure on the opposition against Carlton was superb.”

Toby Greene (GWS)

“I want to put Toby Greene on the agenda.

“He was the highest rated player for us on the weekend, but didn’t get a vote.

“I can’t understand why. I thought he looked far better.

“His record against Geelong is superb so I’m putting him on watch for a big one this week as well.”

Oscar McInerney (Brisbane)

“Second highest player against Richmond, just park that to one side for now.

“Look for what he’s doing at the moment, he’s pushing forward and impacting the scoreboard. He kicked two goals against the Tigers and looked really dangerous ahead of the ball against Adelaide the week before.

“His last few weeks have been superb.”

Dyson Heppell (Essendon)

“Some love for Dyson Heppell. He was the highest rated player for Essendon on the weekend and didn’t get a vote.

“He is actually in the top 50 players in the competition this year with the impact he’s had.”

“That’s the best return we’ve seen from Dyson for the last 10 years.”

Hoyne found one who actually got maximum coaches votes despite Champion Data not rating his game.

Nick Daicos (Collingwood)

“The Nick Daicos discussion, we’ve gone the other way.

“He got the 10 votes from the coaches, but we had him as the 21st best player on the ground.

“We’ve never seen him have less impact with ball in hand than what he did on the weekend.

“Very rare there for Nick.”
