Tom Morris has provided the latest AFL trade and contract news, starting with key Melbourne wingman Ed Langdon who has yet to recommit to the Demons.
The 28-year-old has played virtually every game for the Dees since moving across from Fremantle at the end of 2019 and was a key part of their premiership campaign in 2021.
He is an out-of-contract player that has caught Morris’ eye given how quiet the situation has been.
“There’s one out-of-contract player that I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere and he’s a premiership player – Ed Langdon,” Morris told SEN Breakfast.
“Would a club want a wingman like Ed Langdon? He’s still a pretty good role player. Haven’t seen him discussed anywhere.
“He hasn’t re-signed yet. I’m not sure why.
“He plays such a specific role, he plays it well, he’s durable, he’s consistent – I don’t know why.”
Elsewhere, Gold Coast’s Mac Andrew looms as the AFL’s next million dollar player according to rival clubs.
The key defender is out of contract at the end of next season and set for a massive pay day.
“Mac Andrew is contracted to the end of next year at the Suns and there’s no indications that he’ll leave, he’ll probably sign a two or four-year deal,” Morris said.
“But I spoke to a couple of clubs next week and there is a view that Mac Andrew’s next contract will be $1 million plus per year.
“There’s a view at the Suns that he is their most talented player. He is so highly rated internally.
“I can imagine the Suns will find the money for him, and if they can’t, I’m sure someone else will find money for him.”
