Former NRL players and SEN hosts Denan Kemp and Justin Horo believe star Panther Brian To’o is the only winger who could fetch seven figures on the open market.
The call comes after reports To’o and his management could be looking for a new club despite Penrith rejecting the three-time premiership player wanted out.
With the Panthers set to meet with the New South Wales Origin star and his management in the coming days, Kemp said he had no doubts To’o was worth $1 million in the new salary cap.
“Brian To’o right now in this era is the only winger worth $1 million because the stats he puts up every single week are better than every single front-rower in the game essentially, when it comes to metres,” he said on The Captain’s Run.
“Then you’ve also got his incredible try scoring ability, you’ve got his incredible defensive ability, you’ve got the fact that he’s been in New South Wales’ top three players in origin for at least three years.
“I think he’s worth $1 million.
“I do think if he went to (the Panthers) and asked for an upgrade, they should give it to him.”
Horo, a former Parramatta Eel and Manly Sea Eagles player, agreed with Kemp n To’o’s value but believed the Panthers should upgrade a key member of their premiership core.
“Brian To’o if that is indeed correct, the figure that you’ve said, that $650,000/675,000 mark, it’s way too low,” he said.
“He’s on too far unders now and I think there’s a respect factor in here from the Panthers, where you know, they come to an agreement. I think this gets sorted out.”
To’o and the Panthers host the Newcastle Knights at home on Sunday with kick-off at 2pm.
