Who were the six best players in Round 23?

Nathan Buckley and Kane Cornes assessed each game on SEN Breakfast and came up with their top six performers.

Read their thoughts below:

Brent Daniels (GWS)

“I loved his game,” Cornes said.

“29 disposals, three goals, 13 tackles, seven clearances and the best small forward in football, albeit Dylan Moore is pretty close.

“I think they’re the two clear standouts right now. Charlie Cameron has had a down year, Tom Papley would be in the mix but is injured.”

Buckley added: “They are two (small forwards) who are heading into the midfield.

“That high forward role has always been such a disciplined position to play, a lot of pressure to put on the opposition.

“Daniels and Moore are definitely the two that are taking off in that regard.”

Nick Daicos (Collingwood)

“We have to acknowledge Nick Daicos’ game,” Buckley said.

“I went to that game on Saturday arvo. That was next level.

“A sliding doors moment is Jarrod Berry’s injury. He spent most of the first quarter in some shape or form looking after Nick Daicos in transition.

“Nick’s second quarter was huge. It’s awesome to watch, he knows when he has a shot on goal the moment the ball hits his boot (that it’s going through).

“He’s a bit of a freak talent.”

Jack Viney (Melbourne)

“Jack Viney was terrific in that win,” Cornes said.

“He had plenty of it, clearances, contested possessions, he was kicking goals.”

Zak Butters (Port Adelaide)

“Zak Butters won the Showdown Medal with a record 42-disposal performance,” Cornes said.

“It broke all sorts of Showdown records. He was magnificent.”

Buckley added: “It’s always good when you finish that off with a goal late.”

Sam Darcy (Western Bulldogs)

“Sam Darcy was huge with his seven goals,” Buckley said.

“I thought that was exceptional.”

Patrick Cripps (Carlton)

“Patty Cripps on Sunday was Captain Courageous,” Buckley said.
