Finals week one matchups locked in after Power knock Freo out in Perth

The top eight is locked in following the final game of the 2024 home and away season with Fremantle going down to Port Adelaide 67-87 in Perth.

Freo’s loss means Carlton remain in eighth despite going down in a thriller to St Kilda on Sunday. The Dockers finish 10th as a result of the defet.

With the top eight set in stone, we know which teams will be matching up against each other in finals week one which will begin on Thursday, September 5th.

The top eight teams now take the week off with the pre-finals bye as the 10 eliminated teams see their seasons officially come to an end.

The AFL will release its exact fixturing for finals week one on Monday morning (AEST).

First Qualifying Final
Sydney (1st) v GWS (4th) - SCG

Second Qualifying Final
Port Adelaide (2nd) v Geelong (3rd) - Adelaide Oval

First Elimination Final
Brisbane (5th) v Carlton (8th) - Gabba

Second Elimination Final
Western Bulldogs (6th) v Hawthorn (7th) - MCG

The winners of the two Qualifying Finals will progress straight to Preliminary Final weekend.

The winner of the First Elimination Final between Brisbane and Carlton faces the loser of the First Qualifying Final between Sydney and GWS in week two.

The winner of the Second Elimination Final between Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn faces the loser of the First Qualifying Final between Port Adelaide and Geelong in week two.
