Who were the six best players in finals week two?

Nathan Buckley and Kane Cornes assessed each game on SEN Breakfast and came up with their top six performers.

Read their thoughts below:

Will Ashcroft (Brisbane)

“Let's go to the Saturday night game. I thought Ashcroft was huge in particular when the Lions needed to get their midfield going,” Buckley said.

“Lachie Neale had been held quite well … he (Ashcroft) created so many opportunities, and he's just Nick Caicos-Like with his cleverness.

“There was a couple of times when he was caught up in tackles but was able to keep moving to the point where he satisfied the umpire that he was trying to dispose of the ball, but it bought him an extra half second to be able to get the ball away.

“He’s a quality player and very clever.”

Joe Daniher (Brisbane)

“The other two from that game, I thought were the key forwards,” Buckley said.

“Obviously Joe Daniher, who finished and went bang, bang at the end to be able to knock the game over … he was a big part of that comeback.”

Jesse Hogan (GWS)

“On the flip side, Jesse Hogan just kept kept coming,” Buckley said.

“He's a player that has been so difficult to stop.”

Jase Burgoyne (Port Adelaide)

“On Friday night Jase Burgoyne’s performance was enormous,” Cornes said.

“I thought he was terrific, he was composed, he didn’t lose any one on ones.

“To be able to have that positional change midweek and execute the way that he did was excellent.”

Nick Watson (Hawthorn)

“I’ve got to give some love to to Nick Watson,” Cornes said.

“He kicked that snap from the high free kick then the very next one, he goes to the goal square and at full speed he leads and takes a mark.

“I’m like, ‘If he can do that on the ground, he’s going to be a nightmare to tackle’, you're just not going to be able to tackle him, he’s going to kick maybe more goals than anyone in the history from high free kicks over the next 10 to 15 years.

“But then he can do it in the air … I just can't remember a more watchable first-year player than him.”

Zak Butters (Port Adelaide)

“I think I'll call out Zak Butters simply for the challenge that he would have had through the week,” Buckley said.

“He ended up having eight tackles … Butters had 17 touches for the whole game … but I just think that sort of encapsulated the attitude that Port Adelaide came into the game with.”
