Port Adelaide forward Quinton Narkle has been taken aback by some of his Power teammates in recent weeks.
One Power player in particular who enjoyed a breakout game in last Friday’s Semi-Final win over Hawthorn was Jase Burgoyne.
The 21-year-old was deployed at half-back with both Dan Houston and Kane Farrell out of the side and delivered in spades, with 25 disposals, one goal, nine marks and five rebound 50s. Both his class and composure were evident and he polled the perfect 10 coaches votes for his efforts.
Narkle thinks that the young gun will one day develop into a special player as he continues to rapidly improve as he gains more experience.
“His improvement this year has just been crazy,” Narkle said on SEN SA Breakfast.
“I remember getting here early last year and playing a lot of SANFL with him.
“So, to see how he's gone this year with the AFL side (has been impressive), he’s playing really good footy.
“It’s pretty special and he is going to be a special player for sure.”
Another player that has impressed Narkle is Willie Rioli who kicked two goals to go with 15 disposals against Hawthorn.
Narkle praised the X-factor forward and labelled him one of the best goal kickers he’s ever seen in live play.
“He's such an incredible player,” Narkle said.
“I've said it to people before, he's one of the best goal kickers in live play I've ever seen.
“To play alongside him is a real privilege and on game day, some of the things he does, you just have to sit back and watch – it’s really mesmerising at times.”
Narkle and the Power will hope to qualify for the 2024 Grand Final when Port Adelaide meets Sydney in Friday’s Preliminary Final at the SCG.
