After two meetings at the track last week, thoroughbred racing is back in Devonport this Sunday where eight races are scheduled.
It’s a later start than usual with the first race set for 13:15pm AEST.

Race 4 – 2. General Assembly
Trainer Ange Brakey has been happy to test General Assembly interstate, having success last campaign. The 5YO ventured to Sandown last start, where his chances were ended at the beginning after being slowly away. The horse has generally led with Newitt in the saddle, and with him going back aboard, I’d expect that again to be the case. Small field and General Assembly comfortably looks like the class in the race.
Race 6 – 6. Bloomtime
Unlucky, not to have won more than a single race in her short career, Bloomtime looks placed to break through for win number two. She was no match for the smart Durazzo last start but put a big margin back on third. Awkward draw for Anthony Darmanin to overcome, but I think if he can find cover, then Bloomtime will be too strong for them.
Race 2 – 10. Night Invader
Not much went right for Night Invader at the midweek meeting on 11 September. Resuming from a spell, she was back and wide before being held up for a run in the home straight. Needless to say, she should’ve finished much closer to the placegetters in that race, and off that run, the rise to 1350m looks suitable. The stable had a treble in these colours on that program, and hopefully, Night Invader can keep the good form rolling.
