For the first time in Super Smash’s history, New Zealand’s domestic T20 men’s and women’s champions will be crowned at a pre-determined venue.

That venue? The Basin Reserve – an iconic Kiwi cricket ground surrounded by arguably the country’s greatest roundabout.

The Super Smash Finals weekend will feature both the men’s and women’s Elimination and Grand Finals over the first weekend of February, with SENZ broadcasting live ball-by-ball commentary of the deciders across all New Zealand frequencies and the SENZ app.

The 2024/25 season features a busy domestic T20 schedule with 64 T20 matches, all serving as double-headers across ten venues, starting Boxing Day as the Auckland Aces begin their title defence with a Seddon Park matchup against the Northern Brave men.

Wellington Blaze come into the women’s Super Smash campaign as the defending champions, with their shot at a ninth title beginning New Years’ Day against the Northern Brave women at Seddon Park.

With the Blackcaps also hosting Sri Lanka for three T20s and three ODIs across December and January, Kiwi fans will be able to enjoy white-ball cricket every single day from Boxing Day through to the Super Smash Finals weekend on February 1 and 2.

NZ Cricket CEO Scott Weenink is excited by the prospect of a full calendar of cricket around Aotearoa.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase our game to fans both new and old, while building the profiles of our domestic teams and our rising stars,” Weenink said in a statement.

“It’s fast becoming New Zealand’s favourite summer domestic competition, and with over 1.3 million kiwis tuning in on TV alone last year, we hope to see it reach new heights this summer.”
