Joel Davies cannot believe the price punters are getting for Mr Brightside in the Might And Power Stakes in two weeks’ time.
Co-trainer Ben Hayes all but locked in the Might And Power as Mr Brightside’s final lead-up run for the Cox Plate with connections also weighing up a tilt at the $5 million King Charles on October 19.
Last seen running second in the Feehan Stakes behind Pride Of Jenni on Friday night, Mr Brightside will now almost certainly step up to the 2000m trip at Caulfield on October 12.
And at $2.40-$2.50, Davies suggests punters should be having a bet.
“It will be a 2000m barrier trial in the Might And Power Stakes for Mr Brightside,” Davies told SENTrack.
“You might have horses like Deny Knowledge and a couple of Underwood horses running, Attrition and Antino are possibles if they want to avoid Another Wil in the Toorak.
“Mr Brightside just looks too good for them, there’s still $2.40 out there which seems incredible value and listeners shouldn’t forget that it’s not an all-in market, it’s a pre-noms.
“They’ve basically said that he’s running and he’s genuinely a $1.30-$1.50 shot if he does go around.
“There is not many that are going to be in this race.”
