The Saints capitulated in their Round 6 contest, falling by 71 points to a severely undermanned Western Bulldogs.
Despite Sam Darcy going down early, the Saints still gave up 37 scores en route to a 127-56 Easter Sunday loss.
As St Kilda remains hot on the player market, linked to a number of top-level footballers with extensive room in their salary cap, Kane Cornes believes that the Saints have a significant number of holes that need filling.
In their contest with the Bulldogs, the Saints were dominated through the centre of the ground, finishing -21 in total clearances and -77 in disposals, leading to a -38 in inside 50’s.
“They don’t just need one player," Cornes told SEN’s Fireball.
“It was so glaring, how many holes they have in this list yesterday.
“They need a key back badly, because (Anthony) Caminiti is not that.
“They need two, if not three midfielders.
“Everyone has good two or three good ones. Do they Saints have any decent midfielders?
“I know my friends, and everyone is calling me off about Jack Macrae, those calls are probably gone now after the last two weeks.
“He had three kicks last week, and last night he just kicked the ball up the chimney!
“Jack Steele is not getting it done. I’m all in on (Matthaes) Phillipou, I think he’s going to be an excellent footballer.
“Then you look to the forward line, you hope Max King comes back but who knows, that’s just cross your fingers type stuff.
“Then they probably need another one to help Jack Higgins as a small, and they appear to be looking at a ruckman as well.
“It was just glaring about how many holes there are in this list.”
The Saints find themselves at three wins and three losses through Round 6, with Brisbane, Fremantle and Carlton to come.
