The 2025 AFL trade period's final day is here and there is plenty to talk about.
AFL Trade Radio is up and running and hitting the airwaves every day.
Follow us live throughout the final frenzied day of the trade period and we will bring you all the breaking news as it happens.
7:35pm - Several big trade names to stay put after failed trades
Several big names didn't have their trade requests granted on deadline day.
They include Zach Merrett, with Essendon knocking back Hawthorn's final offer of pick 10, 22, a future first-round pick and Henry Hustwaite for his services.
Rowan Marshall will also remain at St Kilda after the Saints didn't budge after the Cats offered pick 19 and a future-second round pick.
Talks broke down between Brisbane and Adelaide over Callum Ah Chee, who remains a Lion for now. Despite this, the utility is out of contract and could join the Crows still in the pre-season draft.
Buku Khamis also didn't get his move to Carlton. He enters restricted free agency at the end of next season.
Jy Simpkin also remains a Roo after the Pies refused to meet North's asking price.

6:52pm - Hawthorn's final offer for Merrett
Hawthorn have tabled their final offer to Essendon for Zach Merrett, reports SEN's Sam Edmund.
They've offered pick 10, 22, a future first-round pick and Henry Hustwaite for Merrett and a 2027 third-round pick.
This deal is as good as it will get for Essendon from Hawthorn.
Let's see if they accept it.

6:30pm - Trac and Clarry are no longer Dees
Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver have both had their protracted trades away from Melbourne confirmed.
Petracca has joined the Gold Coast Suns with the Demons acquiring Pick 7, Pick 8 and a 2026 first-round pick. The Suns have sent back three second-round selections.
Oliver has made the move to GWS in exchange for a future third-round selection.
6:06pm - Jack Steele is off to Melbourne!
The St Kilda captain has found a new home, with Melbourne securing his services for a 2027 third-round pick.
Steele will join Melbourne's depleted midfield unit on an incredibly cheap deal, adding a further year to his contract until 2028.

5:30pm - No more Jamarra obligations
The Western Bulldogs have released a statement regarding Jamarra Ugle-Hagan's trade to Gold Coast.
Ugle-Hagan has moved to the Suns in exchange for Pick 74 after a tumultuous 2025 where he failed to play a game for the Dogs.
List boss Sam Power thanked Jamarra for his services.
“Jamarra’s affiliation with the Western Bulldogs Football Club has spanned more than eight years, having been a product of our NGA program before becoming the number one selection in the 2020 draft,” Power said.
“Over the past 12 months, Jamarra has faced some complex personal challenges and adversity, with a fresh start for both player and Club seen as the best outcome for all parties.
“During this period, Jamarra’s welfare and wellbeing has remained the Club’s sole priority, as we collectively navigated these challenges with Jamarra.
“We wish him nothing but the best for his next chapter up on the Gold Coast.”
Before the Dogs finished off with a closing statement: Today’s trade means the Bulldogs’ contractual relationship with Ugle-Hagan ends and no ongoing obligations exist.

5:02pm - Magpies Simkpin offer "flatly rejected"
Collingwood has sent their first official offer for Kangaroo Jy Simpkin, offering a future second-round pick in exchange for the North Melbourne captain.
As expected, North Melbourne immediately rejected the offer, as they are demanding a minimum of one (if not, two) first-round pick(s), a price that the Magpies are unlikely to pay.
As reported by Fox's Will Faulkner, the Magpies further offered a future second-round pick and a 2027 future first, in exchange for Simpkin and Pick 46.
The offer was laughed at by North Melbourne, however the Magpies are refusing to give up on their hunt.

5:09pm - Collingwood acquire Swans key forward
Jack Buller has landed at the Magpies!
The Swans have accepted a deal for the key forward, receiving a future third-rounder in exchange for Buller and a future fourth.

4:55pm - Jamarra lands at the Suns
Jamarra Ugle-Hagan is officially a Sun, landing at Gold Coast in exchange for Pick 74 in the upcoming draft.

4:14pm - Crows land emerging Kangaroo
In a shock deadline deal, Adelaide have acquired North Melbourne forward Finnbar Maley.
With hardly any talk of a potential deal approaching deadline day, the Crows have landed further key forward stocks, with the promising Kangaroo set to head to Adelaide.
The deal sees Maley and Pick 64 join the Crows in exchange for Pick 57 and a 2026 future fourth-rounder.
"An interesting name has just emerged," Josh Gabelich told AFL Trade Radio.
"Finnbar Maley has just been traded from North Melbourne to Adelaide. He had been stuck in limbo for the best part of six to eight weeks, unsure about his future at Arden Street.
"No contract offer there, Adelaide have swooped late on him, and that deal has just been executed."
Maley's father Paul played in the NBL with the Adelaide 36ers from 1999 to 2001.

3:00pm - Merrett wants to chase success at Hawthorn
Zach Merrett’s manager, Tom Petroro, has made it vehemently clear that the Essendon captain wants to join Hawthorn.
Petroro says the six-time Crichton Medallist is determined to leave the Bombers and get to the Hawks on trade deadline day.
“Zach really wants to be a Hawthorn footballer, he’s all in on this,” Petroro told AFL Trade Radio.
“It’s been difficult five or six-week period. His instruction to me is to try and get him to Hawthorn this afternoon.
“He’s motivated to get to Hawthorn. He’s in a position where he feels like he’s given his all to the Essendon Football Club over the last 12 years.
“He’s never wavered, he’s bought it all out, but he needs a fresh start. He wants to chase success at Hawthorn.”
What are the chances of a trade actually happening?
“Hawthorn are looking at different alternates and things they can throw up,” Petroro added.
“The reality for me is - I’ve been lucky enough to be in this game for 23 years - I’ve never seen a deal like this for a 30-year-old. Two first-rounds, a second-round pick - that’s massive collateral.
“For a club that is in a phase where they’re focusing on youth I would have thought three top picks is probably better than a 30-year-old to take the club forward.
“That’s what we’ll work through this afternoon.”
3:31pm - 🚨DEAL DONE!🚨
Changkuoth Jiath is a Demon!
Melbourne and Hawthorn have formally agreed on the deal, sending Pick 42 Hawthorn's way in exchange for the dynamic half back flanker.
2:56pm - Hawthorn to table new offer for Merrett
Hawthorn is set to have another swing at trading for Zach Merrett, reports SEN's Sam Edmund.
After Essendon knocked back their offer of pick 9, a future first-round pick, a future second-round pick and Henry Hustwaite, the Hawks are set to go again.
According to Edmund, the new offer is poised to be pick 10, 22 and a future-first.
The Hawks will get pick 22 and 10 from Carlton in a deal that sees them give up pick 9.

2:35pm - Saints resolute that Marshall won't be traded
St Kilda won't trade Rowan Marshall on deadline day, reports SEN's Sam Edmund.
That's according to the club themselves, who are resolute that they won't be giving Marshall his wish of joining Geelong.
Marshall is contracted until the end of the 2027 season and is set to share ruck duties with free agent Tom De Koning if he doesn't move on today.
2:24pm - Blues and Hawks to complete pick swap
Clubs are preparing to launch into respective deals, with Hawthorn and Carlton agreeing to a pick swap in anticipation for deadline trades.
Carlton will shift Pick 10 and Pick 22, in exchange for Hawthorn's Pick 9, Pick 31, Pick 42 and Pick 43.
Hawthorn now hold 10 and 22, which will both be included in any offers made for Zach Merrett.
Carlton shift up to Pick 9, while also landing later picks, expected to be used for Buku Khamis.
The deal remains in negotiation.

1:40pm - Carlton land Florent external to Curnow deal
Despite being involved in the Swans' initial offer for Charlie Curnow, Ollie Florent will instead be traded to the Blues in an external deal not involving the superstar Blue.
According to Riley Beveridge, the Blues will send a future third-round pick in exchange for Florent, securing his services irrespective of a deal surrounding Curnow.

1:32 - Melbourne to land dynamic Hawk
Changkuoth Jiath will today become a Demon, with Melbourne and Hawthorn agreeing on a deal early on deadline day.
The Demons will send Hawthorn Pick 42 in the upcoming draft, the pick they received as compensation for the departing Charlie Spargo, in exchange for Jiath in a straight swap with Hawthorn.
Jiath remained on the outer at Hawthorn, frequently used as the substitute across his 20 games in 2025.
After agreeing to a contract with Melbourne, Jiath will officially join the club within the opening stages of Wednesday's trade window.

11:54 - Dees showing keen interest in St Kilda captain
Melbourne have developed an interest in St Kilda's Jack Steele.
Steele was told by the Saints to explore his options, however the midfielder's preference is to remain at the club, seeing out his contract that is set to expire in 2027.
The Demons have asked the question of Steele, emerging as a major contender for the 29-year-old's services.

11:32 - Victorian clubs circling Florent following Blues' rejection
Sydney's Ollie Florent has landed on the radar of several Victorian clubs after the Blues rejected the Swans' initial offer for Charlie Curnow.
The 27-year-old Victorian was set to be a key piece in the Swans' deal to land the star Blue, however given Carlton rejected the offer, Vic sides are preparing a potential swoop for the back flanker.

NO DEAL!
We know deals cannot be done until this afternoon but they can certainly be rejected!
Latest news from the wild world of trade is that Carlton have said not to the Swans for their current offer to land Charlie Curnow.
According to Tom Morris the offer included:
Pick 11, 2026 first rounder, Ollie Florent & Will Hayward.
The Swans want Curnow and pick 22 in return.
The rejection will come as little surprise to all parties, but Cal Twomey is confident Curnow will becomes a Swan.
"I still think this gets done," he said. "The first offer was a reasonable starting point and Sydney have room to move. They should take 22 off the table.
"We have eight-and-a-half hours to get this done I just think it will look a bit different by tonight."

Inside the deal for Ugle-Hagan
We will have to wait until after the lock out but this, according to Tom Morris, is the tabled deal for the troubled Dog.
"The Suns are committed. That’s the key. The Dogs will do the deal too," Morris said on Trade Radio. "I predict Gold Coast will offer either Pick 70 or 74 for Ugle-Hagan.
"The offer is a 1 year deal with a series of on and off field triggers for a 2nd year. It’s no more than about $250k… a fair drop from his current 900k deal. It would take something remarkable for this to fall over now."

End of the line for Elijah Hollands?
Here's what Morris thinks: "There won't be another suitor for Elijah Hollands. He will either stay at Carlton or they will delist him.
"There is another element which is interesting. His brother Ollie is there, and what does it do to Ollie. The Blues need to weigh this up.
"Do they give him one more chance."

What's on the table for Trac?
"The Petracca deal will happen, with Picks 7 & 8 to Melbourne and Pick 24 going back to the Suns," says Morris.
"There is also a range of other pick swaps going on with Melbourne and Gold Coast.
"The Demons will get more draft capital over the next two years, and the Suns will get more points."
What can we expect today?
Essentially we're set for a quiet morning because the annual lockout for the final day is also in place, deals can be formalised from 2pm onwards but nothing official will happen before that.
We're expecting Marshall, Curnow, Oliver, Merrett, Petracca and Ugle-Hagan to be completed at the very least.
Amid the chaos of this Merrett saga and all the goings on of yesterday, Tim Watson is steadfast in his opinion that the skipper is going nowhere.
"If the Hawks are desperate to get Zach Merrett... Then they have to satisfy Essendon.
"I still believe he won't go anywhere, but if he does it will take an unbelievable offer," he said on SEN Breakfast this morning.
"I do not believe this deal will go through."
Then there is the curious case of De Goey...reports suggest he is open to a move but have they left it too late?
The AFL trade period will close at 7:30pm (AEDT) on Wednesday, October 15.
All clubs will have to submit paperwork by this time but some deals will be confirmed after the deadline.
