Jamarra Ugle-Hagan is officially a Sun, with Gold Coast trading the Bulldogs pick 74 on deadline day of the 2025 AFL Trade Period.
2025 was a difficult season for Jamarra, failing to make an appearance at any level amid severe personal battles.
The former No.1 pick's ability has hardly been questioned, however given his inconsistent availability, the Bulldogs were happy to move on from the forward, permitting a fresh opportunity for Jamarra to return to top level football.
Having agreed to contract terms with Ugle-Hagan and the AFL, the Suns acquire the 23-year-old for a heavily discounted price, trading Pick 74 to the Bulldogs ahead of Wednesday's 7:30pm deadline.
As part of the agreement between Jamarra and the Suns, the forward will live with Indigenous liaison officer and former games record-holder Jarrod Harbrow, as the Suns prepare the former Dog for an AFL return.
Ugle-Hagan posted the following words on Instagram.
"Though it didn't end the way I would have liked, I have nothing but gratitude and respect for the Doggies. My time at the Kennel has come with its share of lows — there's no denying that — but the memories and friendships l've made will stay with me for life.
"From a shy 15-year-old who moved to Melbourne, the Doggies took me in and gave me a family and a home.
"For that, they'll always hold a special place in my heart. Part of me wishes things had ended differently, but I leave proud to have worn the red, white, and blue.
"Thank you to all my teammates, coaches, and staff who've been part of my journey — I'm forever grateful.
"Only good things to come from here. Can't wait to get up to goldy and do myself and my community proud."
