In a heavily rain-affected match, Australia has claimed their first ODI win at Perth Stadium, having beaten India by seven wickets to take a 1-nil series lead.
Winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Australia started the match on fire with Matt Renshaw on his international One Day debut, taking a catch at second slip off Josh Hazlewood to dismiss Rohit Sharma in the third over of the match.
His wicket was shortly followed by Virat Kohli, who went out for an eight ball duck after chasing a delivery outside his off stump, which was caught by Cooper Connolly at point.
And in his first game as ODI captain, Shubman Gill would perish for just ten runs, with Nathan Ellis getting him out with his first ball.
After that, the rain delays would come through, which interrupted play throughout the Indian innings with there being four in total.
This would see the game eventually reduced to just 26 overs per side.
But when play returned, the Aussies kept taking wickets with India making 136 runs in 26 overs.
This meant that they were required to chase 131 after DLS calculation was taken into account with Brad Hogg calling the decision unfair on SEN Cricket.
While the target appeared easy to chase, the wickets of Travis Head and Matt Short, who both fell for eight runs, made things slightly harder.
But the combination of captain and opener Mitch Marsh and Josh Philippe, who played in his first international ODI in four years combined for a 50+ run partnership to help steady the innings, with Renshaw helping Marsh close out the match with just under five overs left in the innings.
The next ODI between the two sides is set to take place next Thursday at Adelaide Oval.
The first ball is set to be bowled at 2:30pm AEDT (2pm local time).
SEN will have live coverage of the match from 1:58pm AEDT (1:28pm local time).
10:24pm - Mitch Marsh claims Man of the Match award
The local boy has led his team from the front today with his 46 not out being the leading performance with the bat.
It was a dazzling performance to say the least with Marsh being the anchor from start to finish in the rain affected match.
10:20pm - Ellis: "Any game you win for Australia is a good day"
Fast bowler Nathan Ellis has joined SEN Cricket's Bharat Sundaresan for a post-game chat.
The Tasmanian representative managed to bowl five overs, which saw him concede 29 runs for one wicket.
While Ellis mentioned that even though rain affected matches like today can be frustrating to be a part of, the result makes it all worth it.
"Rain games are always a little bit frustrating; today was probably the epitome of that," he said.
"It felt like we kept coming off when we were in the middle of my over, so I had to go down and put my back into it.
"But any game you win for Australia is a good day, so a long day but a good day."

10:14pm - Renshaw gets booed in a playful way as Australia claims 1-0 series lead
A strong performance by the Aussies to have claimed their first win in a ODI at Perth Stadium.
Matt Renshaw hit the winning runs much to the crowd's dismay as it ultimately denied Mitch Marsh raising the bat for a half century and.
But the captain is unlikely to care having managed an unbeaten 46 which was the top score for the match.
Australia 3/131 after 21.1 overs
9:55pm - Australia within 20 runs of target
A Matthew Renshaw ramp shot for six has brought the Aussies within 15 runs of their run target.
Can't see them losing from here.
Australia 3/116 after 18.3 overs
9:50pm - Final attendance - 42,423
A very strong turnout at Perth Stadium for the first of three ODIs against India.
So much so, that it is a record international attendance for any format against India in Perth.
9:42pm - Wicket - Josh Philippe
And just as we applaud his performance, Philippe has gotten out.
This time, it's India's other spinner today, Washington Sundar, who has taken the wicket with Arshdeep Singh taking a catch at deep backward square leg.
Australia 3/99 after 15.2 overs
9:41pm - Marsh and Philippe form a 50 run partnership
Both men are now on 37 not out with the wicketkeeper/batsmen leading the way.
9:33pm - Australia reaches halfway mark of their innings
Josh Philippe and Mitch Marsh are building a solid partnership with Australia.
The combination has combined for 31 runs between themselves, which has helped steady the team's innings.
India really needs to break this combination sooner rather than later.
Australia 2/75 after 13 overs
9:08pm - Wicket - Matt Short
Brad Hogg has been proven right.
Axar Patel has come into the attack, and in his first over, he has taken the wicket of Matt Short.
Short splices the ball behind him, having been caught off guard by its length.
The ball just makes the edge of the inner fielding ring with Rohit Sharma catching it at short third man.
Australia 2/44 after 7.5 overs.
9:01pm - The risk that India should take according to Brad Hogg
The former left-arm spinner thinks that Indian captain Shubman Gill should put Axar Patel on to bowl to Mitch Marsh.
"There's one thing that I would do if I were Gill now," he explained.
"I would have a risk on (Axar) Patel to Mitch Marsh.
"So bring the left arm off-spinner and go with your craft.
"You don't have to bowl darts, but we're trying to get him out and just that little change up right now and see how Mitch Marsh goes after spin.
"Knowing that they've got Washington Sundar there as well."
8:56pm - Marsh is hitting the ball with confidence
Following his century in Australia's last ODI against South Africa, Mitch Marsh has continued to hit the ball with absolute power.
18 of his 22 runs have come from sixes, helping Australia get in front of the required run rate.
Australia 1/37 after 5.4 overs
8:36pm - Wicket - Travis Head
Travis Head's innings has come to an early conclusion having gotten out for eight runs.
Arshdeep Singh put the ball wide of his off stump and Head has found the fielder at Third man in Harshit Rana.
"It was almost like he was trying to hit the ball to him," Adam White said.
"It's a bit like a bird flying over and you've got a small hat on your head and it just lands on top of your head." Brad Hogg added.
Australia 1/10 after 1.2 overs
8:31pm - Australia's innings is underway
Captain Mitch Marsh and Travis Head will reprise their opening pair combination from the South Africa series for the First ODI against India.
Marsh will take the first ball with Mohammed Siraj bowling it.
Australia 0/0 after 0.0 overs.
8:24pm - Is the DLS calculation fair on India?
With the DLS calculation, Australia are now required to chase a total that is lower than what India managed to make despite both teams having been set the same number of overs to bat.
This has led Brad Hogg, on commentary, to call the decision unfair.
"I just think that is absolutely ridiculous," he said during the innings break.
"I don't like that concept of losing runs when you've batted the 26 overs and the other team is going to come out and bat the 26 overs as well."
8:21pm - Australia will need to chase 131 runs in the space of 26 overs
That's just over five runs an over.
8:15pm - India finish the innings with a six
The debutant in Nitish Kumar Reddy has cashed in the final over with two sixes to get India to 136.
That will form the basis of the DLS calculations to decide how much Australia has to chase in 26 overs.
It will be a 15-minute innings break, meaning play is expected to get underway at 8:30pm AEDT (5:30pm local time)
India 9/136 after 26 overs (innings end)
8:12pm - Wicket - Arshdeep Singh
It seems to be raining wickets which is a nice change from the other rain that has delayed the match.
It's Arshdeep Singh who has departed for a diamond duck after being run out by Nathan Ellis.
Can India make to the end of shorten innings?
India 9/124 after 25.2 overs
8:09pm - Wicket - Harshit Rana
And Owen has made it two with a mistimed shot from Rana falling into the gloves of Philippe.
India 8/123 after 25 overs.
8:08pm - Wicket - KL Rahul
Mitch Owen has claimed his first wicket in ODI Cricket with KL Rahul departing for 38.
India 7/121 after 24.3 overs
8:01pm - Wicket - Washington Sundar
Kuhnemann now has two wickets to his name having managed to hit Washington Sundar's stumps.
Having managed to keep a tidy bowling econony while getting Axar Patel and now Sundar out could prove quite handy according to Bharat Sundaresan.
"It's turning into a match winning spell from Matt Kuhnemann," he said.
India 6/115 after 23.3 overs
7:44pm - Wicket - Axar Patel
Matthew Kuhnemann has managed to nab the wicket of Axar Patel for 31 runs.
Patel hit it to Long off and didn't get enough on it, with Matt Renshaw getting underneath it and making the catch.
This sees Washington Sundar make his way out to the field.
India 5/84 after 20 overs
7:40pm - India continues their attacking push
With only seven overs left, India has continued their attacking approach to try and set Australia a difficult target.
KL Rahul has finished the over with back-to-back fours.
"These two have come to play since the last rain delay," Adam White declared on SEN Cricket.
"They are hitting boundaries for fun."
And with this lively start, it has seen the Indian fans find their voice
India 4/80 after 19.0 overs
7:37pm - Axar Patel goes hard
For the first time in this match, India has managed to exceed 10 runs in an over with Axar Patel hitting Mitch Owen for back-to-back fours.
He now sits on 25 not out.
India 4/65 after 18.0 overs
7:32pm - PLAY IS UNDERWAY
7:16pm - We're on for a 26 over innings
We're starting to run out of hands to count how many rain delays there has been but it appears that we will back in action at 7:30pm AEDT (4:30pm local time)
This will mean that each side with only have 26 overs to bat.
That means we are getting dangerously close to the minimum of 20 overs per side to be able to get a result.
And with the rain appearing to have passed, hopefully that means it's a clean run from here.

6:39pm - Yet another rain delay
We've had about as many wickets as there have been rain delays.
The covers are back on, but looking at the BOM radar, it should be another short one...fingers crossed.
India 4/52 after 16.4 overs.
6:32pm - Moody: "I would love to be Kuhnemann right now, with India in this position."
6:27pm - PLAY IS BACK UNDERWAY FOR THE FOURTH TIME
Axar Patel and KL Rahul are at the crease for India with Nathan Ellis bowling the remainder of his second over.
India 4/47 after 14.4 overs
__6:20pm - Play set to resume in five minutes __
The umpires are standing by the pitchside with the big covers having come off.
The small one is still on there, but Adam White is confident that play will be returning soon.
"I'm looking at the radar now," he said on SEN Cricket.
"And it looks as good as it has in some time after whatever this is.
"So that's a good sign."
And the hessian is off with play set to start at 6:25pm AEDT (3:25pm local time).
Let's hope that we can get some action for more than just five overs.
The game has been reduced to 32 overs per innings, with two bowlers able to bowl seven overs while three can bowl six overs.
Josh Hazlewood has already bowled his allotment of seven.
6:02pm - The rain has struck again
Just as we start to get some play once again, the covers have once again come back on.
They've only managed to get through two and a half overs with the game set to be reduced even further.
It's now the third time that the match has been paused due to the rain.
India 4/46 after 14.2 overs
5:56pm - Wicket - Shreyas Iyer
We might have been off the field for two hours, but Josh Hazlewood and Australia have picked up right where he left off.
Similar to Gill's dismissal, Iyer tried to play it down the leg side.
However, this time the ball flew into Josh Philippe's gloves.
KL Rahul is now at the crease.
India 4/45 after 13.2 overs
5:49pm - WE'RE BACK
Shreyas Iyer has come out of the rain delay, firing, having hit Josh Hazlewood for a boundary with a cut shot.
India 3/41 after 12.0 overs.
5:38pm - START TIME HAS BEEN CONFIRMED
After being off the ground for the last two hours, we finally appear to be ready to re-continue the game.
The match is set to restart at 2:50pm local time (5:50pm AEDT) with the match being reduced to 35 overs for each innings.
This will mean that seven overs will become the maximum that one bowler can bowl.
5:32pm - There's movement with the covers
The big covers have been removed from the field, and the grounds staff are now taking off the smaller covers with the heshin still on.
Hopefully, it means that play will continue in the not-so-distant future.
5:27pm - The Ashes Roundtable
Brad Hogg, Tom Moody, Adam White, and Tom Morris have made the most of the rain delay and discussed the burning questions that could decide the Ashes series.
Have a listen below.
5:16pm - Listen to the full chat with Lance Morris
Earlier in the rain delay, West Australian and Australian bowler Lance Morris chatted with the SEN Cricket team.
In this interview, he talked about his back injury that has ruled him out for the Ashes.

5:03pm - The rain is still pouring
It's been about 90 minutes since we came off the ground with rain still pouring and the covers still on.
Let's hope that the worst of it has been and gone.
4:34pm - Moody: Konstas wouldn't be considered for national team if he wasn't from NSW
During the rain delay, the conversation has turned to what Australia's top six could look like for the Ashes.
Tom Moody, Tom Morris and Adam White have just debated whether Sam Konstas should be in contention for the team, with Moody believing that the 20-year-old would not be discussed had be playing for any other state outside of New South Wales.
Moody: “I think if he came from another state, he wouldn’t be in the conversation, it’s as simple as that.”
T. Morris: “Do you actually believe that?”
Moody: “100%.”
“He hasn’t got a body of work to justify this sort of sudden superstar…and it’s not his fault.”
White: “No, it’s not.”
Moody: “You know, Cricket Australia are using him as a marketing piece for this summer. He may not even play the First Test.”
“That’s egg on the face straight away, I just think (its) unnecessary pressure put on a young talent.
“There’s no question that he isn’t talented, but certainly the sample size I’ve seen, I don’t think he has got a technique quite ready or a game strategy to be able to match it in the fast lane of international cricket…yet.”
4:20pm - Morris addresses injury concerns
During the rain delay, Western Australian fast bowler Lance Morris has joined the broadcast.
Morris has been a constant name thrown up as the next generation of Australian fast bowlers that could replace the likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins once they retire.
Already, he has featured for the Australian ODI squad but has been cruelled by injuries.
The latest injury that Morris has sustained is a back injury, which has ended his summer early, with the injury being similar to Cam Green's, who missed the Border-Gavaskar Series last year due to that.
This has seen the Western Australian opt to have surgery on it, admitting that this was a line in the sand moment on having surgery to fix the issue.
“I think in my situation, just over the last three years, I’ve obviously been managed for a fair bit of cricket,” he said.
“Having long spells, particularly over the winter and putting my feet up and having to not do a great deal.
“I think we got to this point where my back was sore when I was getting ready for those ODIs up in the Top End, and it was just a line in the sand moment where we have gone about the natural way of trying to heal this thing up, and it’s not responding how we like.
“So, it was actually quite an easy decision to make with CA’s (Cricket Australia) support around it, and they have been incredible so far.
“I’ve had all the access to everyone I need.”
4:03pm - Australian all-rounder agrees with Broad's comments
While the current ODI and subsequent T20 series against India is the current focus of the Australian team, the Ashes will certainly capture the attention of the side and the imagination of both Australians and the English.
Already, the war of words between ex-players has certainly made for some interesting reading, such as Stuart Broad's (who will be on SEN Cricket's broadcast of the Ashes) comments about this Australian Test side being the worst side since 2010.
But one Australian all-rounder would agree with Broad's comments.

3:51pm - BOM Forecast is not looking promising

3:36pm - And we're off again
We've got our second rain delay for the match.
The covers are back on, and it looks like we'll be off for a longer period of time compared to the first one.
"It's not heavy rain, but looking at the radar, there is heavy rain coming," Adam White said on SEN Cricket.
"And I think as much as anything, this is a precautionary move."
But this might play into the hands of Australia, according to Tom Moody.
"Australia will be disappointed that they are coming off and on all the time,” he explained.
“But it's certainly harder for India in this situation.”
India 3/37 after 11.5 overs
3:30pm - Moody: "I think he (Nathan Ellis) is a massively underrated bowler in this format of the game"
3:25pm - Play is back on
With the delay, it has now reduced the game to 49 overs for each innings.
That was definitely one of the shortest rain delays I have ever seen in cricket.
3:20pm - Covers are off
And just as the covers came on, they have come off just as fast.
The players are waiting in their dugouts, waiting for word from the umpires on when they can come back on.
3:15pm - Rain delay
And just as the Aussies were getting on top of the match, the ground staff brought on the covers with a little bit of drizzle around the ground.
India 3/25 after 8.5 overs
3:09pm - Wicket - Gill
In the first bowling change of the game, Nathan Ellis has come on and taken the wicket of Shubman Gill with his first ball.
The Indian captain tried to flick the ball off his pads but edged it with wicketkeeper Josh Philippe taking the catch, which just carried.
Tom Moody felt that the shot played by Gill was pre-emptive.
"That was a little bit of pre-empting there from Gill," he said.
"He's moved across with that front leg before Ellis has let go of the ball."
The Australians are on a roll.
India 3/25 after 8.1 overs
3:00pm - Wicket - Kohli out for a duck
It couldn't have been a worse start for Virat Kohli as he is out for a duck.
Mitchell Starc put the ball outside off stump, and the great has sliced the ball.
And it was hit high enough that Cooper Connolly was able to take the catch at point with a diving effort.
SEN Cricket's Bharat Sundaresan felt that Kohli played that shot out of desperation after struggling to score after seven balls.
"He got a bit desperate didn't he, seven dot balls," he said.
Shreyas Iyer now comes to the crease.
India 2/21 after 6.1 overs
2:45pm - Wicket: Sharma
Josh Hazlewood has taken the first wicket of the series using some extra bounce, which caught Rohit Sharma off guard and saw him edge the ball.
Matt Renshaw was at second slip and took the catch comfortably, as noted by Tom Moody.
"He took that in his sleep. He just looks so comfortable," he said on SEN Cricket's commentary.
Sharma's dismissal has brought Virat Kohli to the crease, and the crowd has gone wild for his arrival.
India 1/13 after 3.4 overs
2:42pm - Gill and Sharma drive for their first boundaries
Shubman Gill has played a divine drive past mid off for a boundary off Josh Hazelwood to give India their first boundary of the match.
And Rohit Sharma has followed suit off the bowling of Mitchell Starc.
India 0/13 after 3.0 overs
2:30pm - WE'RE UNDERWAY
Mitchell Starc has bowled the first ball of the match to Rohit Sharma, who has hit a single.
Shubman Gill is now on strike.
India 0/1 after 0.1 overs
2:26pm - Should Jaiswal be in the XI?
Tom Moody is not convinced that Rohit Sharma should be in the XI, believing that 12th man Yashasvi Jaiswal should be in the side.
“At the top of the order, he is a superstar,” Moody said on SEN Cricket.
“He scored another 100 last week in the Test series just finished (against the West Indies) in India.
“He’s a very versatile player; he can play T20 cricket, and he’s successful in Test Cricket.
“But to me, he offers that left-hand option at the top of the order.
“If you look at their batting line-up, they’re all right-handers down to Axar Patel.”
2:23pm - The Welcome to Country ceremony is underway
2:13pm - Could we expect some rain?
According to the forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology, we might be set for rain to make an impact on the match.

2:06pm - Team lists confirmed
Following the coin toss, both sides have confirmed their team lists.
It's a new look side for Australia with there being seven changes from their last ODI against South Africa from August.
While for India, this is their first competitive ODI since the Champions Trophy back in March.

1:48pm - India confirms debutant
Having made his Test debut against Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth last year, Nitish Kumar Reddy will now have his ODI debut at the Perth Stadium as well.
He becomes the 260th Indian male to represent his nation in the format.
1:44pm - Can the Aussies break their Perth Stadium hoodoo?
With a massive summer of cricket on the horizon for Australia, they will be hoping to start it off on the right foot with a victory over India today.
But in the small sample size of games that Australia has at Optus Stadium for ODIs, it has not been a happy hunting ground for the national team.
Since it opened in 2018, Australia has played three ODIs at the venue and has yet to win at the ground.
Can they turn their luck around against the World No.1s in India?
