Hamish McLachlan’s 2025 Oaks tips

After landing four Oaks winners, trifectas and first fours in a row, Hamish McLachlan missed in 2024.

He boxed up six runners last year and got three of the four (Treasurethe Moment, Powers Of Opal and Harlem Queen), but did not include Hurry Curry who ran third.

But McLachlan was on fire in the previous four editions:

• 2023: He had Zardozi to beat Aethelflaed with Basilinna and Amazonian Lass for third and fourth.

• 2022: He got She’s Extreme, Pavitra, Queen Air and Zennzella.

• 2021: He picked Willowy, Douceur, Biscayne Bay and Elusive Express.

• 2020: He selected Personal, Salto Angel, Montefilia and Miravalle.

He has made a point of fighting back in 2025 so joined SEN’s Whateley to provide his selections for this year’s Crown Oaks (2500m) at Flemington later today (5:10pm AEDT).

In previous years McLachlan has made a boxed top four, whereas this year he's selected a combination first four, with only three a chance of finishing first.
