Cam Luke & David Taggart have your Saturday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Caulfield & Rosehill in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
CAULFIELD
Race 1 | 6. Jenni's Meadow
She has been good the last couple chasing Saint George and even though there are similar horses here today (Bold Soul) she will find this easier! All because of the weight! She rises 1/2 kg compared to Bold Soul (who she beat home) who has to carry 5.5kg more. She will enjoy the good track, ignore Caulfield form as they have been shorter runs. Tarvue back in trip is a question and Magnaspin has a question over 2000 but even more so rises in weight after finishing behind Jenni last start so I am with her.
Race 5 | 2. Our Chief (win) & Leveraged Buyout (top 4 or 5)
Again, Our Chief will have the run of the race as he has the last couple and will get every chance in run. I'm not overly huge on the drop back to 1800 but in saying that there are a few queries on the others stepping up, so will lean on him out staying most of these. Good track is a positive and should go back to back. If you want some value in the race Leveraged Buyout is screaming out for 1800 (and probably beyond) huge step up in class but running the trip wont be a concern so have a little each way play or include him in your Sportsbet Same Race Multi!
Race 8 | 3. Gallant Son
Was really good winning fresh down the Flemington straight when having to carry weight, today with the Pozman claim drops to a very winnable impost. This could be a very nervous watch as he will be camped behind the speed but at $3 it’s a risk worth taking! The 1100 works and there will be speed which wont bother him having him ran well in 1200m Group races. The is harder but really more so in number and not on paper so I think he will be too good, luck dependant.
Race 10 | 1. Harry's Yacht (each-way)
Didn't run the 1600 out last start which was of no surprise to me but what is surprising is back to 1400, is down in class and we're getting double figure odds. Has been up a while but im not overly concerned about that as he is a tough horse. Jamie Melham goes back on which I like as he can be a little keen at times and from that gate she will need some luck to find a backside to help him relax. The firm deck is a major plus and he is absolutely over the odds at $11 and a great each way play!
ROSEHILL
Race 2 | 3. Cryptonic
Wasn’t too bad last start but the big factor is back onto a firm deck. Best efforts always on top of the ground and that bodes well today. Drawn perfectly to do no work and should be in front of the fave (Attractiveness) in the run! Has won third up before and will need a smidge of luck in the straight but Tommy Berry is a star and will find a way out when it matters.
Race 3 | 5. Written In Munny (top 3)
There is no doubt the fav is going to be hard to beat but this bloke should be forgiven for debut run. Didn't handle the wet and today on the firm track will be a big improver. He can sit OSL Eviction Notice and will have learnt from being at the track. Stays 1100 which I think works and I think the $3.40 to run TOP 3 on More Places is a bet!
Race 4 | 2. Hardanger
Was really good to the line on debut behind Warwoven and ran past Shiki! Has had a trial since and looked solid. Blinkers go on today which will help as will getting to the 1100. Miss Scandal looks hard to beat but I am leaning with race experience and fitness to be the difference here.
Race 8 | 6. Enriched
Always goes well first up and has trialled up really well which are good signs but after his autumn I simply think he is a really good horse and that’s why I am backing him! Two really nice wins including a G2 and also chased Autumn Glow home, that’s the sign of a decent horse! Good track is a plus and the gate works nicely. There is a lot of speed so will be able to find his rhythm and a trail, he'll have the drop and hopefully be too good late!
Race 10 | 13. Nepo Baby
This is a major step up but she has down everything asked of her so far and the step from Maiden to BM64 isn't easy and she did that with a leg in the air. She might be better than we realise. She gets every single chance today. Low weight, drawn perfectly and she trialled really well. I'd expect her to have improved and she will need to in a really nice open race but I'm with her. Sequista is the only other one in the quaddie. Having a nice prep and looks to be in her groove, the claim is helpful and is drawn to get a nice run and if Nepo gets beat it will be Sequista.
CAULFIELD
Race 3 | 5. Hedonist
Stepped up to 1400 for the first time last start and he smashed a handy field in track record time. Draws pole gets a huge claim and hopefully lead all the way.
Race 4 | 6. Sun Gift
Was given a peach when winning last start when Jamie took her forward instead of looking for something to trail. Is in form and will find this harder than last start but stepping up to 2400 looks in her favour.
Race 5 | 3. Bayou Music (value)
Was good first up against the older horses over an unsuitable trip first up hitting the line. Has only raced over this trip once running second behind the Derby runner up. Will get back and watch for him late, looks a great each-way play.
ROSEHILL
Race 7 | 9. Sixties
Resumes and he did beat Autumn Boy last prep over 1400. Raced against serious 3yo’s over Winter and Spring and he is ready to go off his trials. Will go forward and with no weight on his back he’s going to be hard to beat.
