Michael Kent Jnr has both the favourites in the market for the Group 1 Blue Diamond (1200m), alongside his co-trainer Mick Price – Guest House and Big Sky.
Guest House, who is one win from one start, recently had a trial on January 26 across 800m at Cranbourne, where he won by a couple of lengths.
Giving an update on how the son of Home Affairs is travelling in preparation for the $2 million two-year-old sprint at Caulfield on February 21, Kent Jnr revealed that the colt is looking unreal.
“Guest House couldn't be going any better,” Kent Jnr told RSN’s Correct Weight.
“Wow, he's in amazing form back at home. His trial was sensational.
“He's a real two-year-old - he's muscle and bone, he's sound and got a very, very good temperament.”
The co-trainer also provided an update on Big Sky, after his Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) victory by 3 lengths on Saturday.
Kent Jnr revealed that he actually has an amazing problem with the son of Bivouac, based off jockey Ben Melham’s post-race comments.
“He's very excited about him, thinks he's very raw,” the co-trainer said about Melham’s comments.
“He did mention to us that maybe we could add some gear.
“We haven't had a discussion about that yet - we'd prefer to leave him alone if we could.
“It's a good problem to have when a horse can do so much wrong (by) having a look around and a gawk at the winning post and still win by a big margin. If any horse can go that fast and still be able to look around, they're doing it pretty easily, aren't they?”
Both Guest House and Big Sky are the current $4.50 favourites with Sportsbet to win the Blue Diamond.
