Victoria’s Tom Rogers has pulled off perhaps the catch of the year in Australian cricket.
Fielding for the Vics against Queensland in the One Day Cup match against Queensland, Rogers was stationed at cover when Marnus Labuschagne drove Austin Anlezark on the up on just 4 from 9 balls.
While the Aussie Test No. 3 got some pretty good connection with the ball rocketing off his Kookaburra bat, Rogers somehow plucked the flying ball both high and to his left.
Rogers flew both upwards and across to reach the ball before a relaxed celebration caused SEN’s Adam White to lose his mind on commentary.
“What a catch! I can’t believe what I’ve just seen!” White exclaimed on commentary.
“Extraordinary from Rogers… into the off-side and Tom Rogers has just done that if you don’t mind!”

“It was amazing, I always get embarrassed calling those because there’s no real crowd to go with it at a game like this,” White said on SEN Afternoons.
“He was fielding at cover-point at it was the big wicket of Labuschagne… Tom Rogers has full stretch taken it with one hand.
“The ball was still going up as it got to him and such was the velocity that it actually took him off his feet, but he was still able to hold on.
“It was certainly one of the best catches I’ve ever seen in Australian cricket.”
Queensland finished their first innings on 215 from 49 overs, with Jimmy Peirson top scoring with 65.
Todd Murphy was the main destroyer from the Vics with the ball having taken 3/29 from his 10 overs.
