Steven May has been granted a few days away from Melbourne to “navigate his personal situation”.

The veteran defender was not at training on Wednesday as doubts surrounding his short-term future arise as reported by The Age.

May was visited by police last Thursday which according to the Herald Sun came “following reports of threatening behaviour”.

Tom Morris reported that the Demons have afforded May some time away from the club.

The 2021 premiership defender and two-time All-Australian was charged by police in October over a brawl that occurred in Sorrento in December 2024 but has always maintained his innocence.

"Steven has advised the club that he was not involved in the alleged incident and will strongly defend the charge in court," read a club statement last October.

May, 34, was told to look around for a new club last trade period but there were no takers.
