Brisbane Broncos' assistant Ben Te'o has reportedly quit the club after a major blow-up with coach Michael Maguire.

Te'o and Maguire had a heated verbal altercation in the days leading up to the Broncos' upset victory over the Storm.

Broncos' insiders have tried to negotiate the peace between the two, holding talks between Maguire and Te'o, but it is understood Te'o informed the club of his decision to walk away following the argument.

Te'o and Maguire have a long history of working together, dating back to winning a premiership together as player and coach at the Rabbitohs in 2014.

The argument between Te'o and Maguire reportedly surrounded differences over defence tactics in the lead-up to the match against the Storm.

Te'o was an integral part of the Broncos' premiership win last season, leading their defence.

The former Bronco was initially brought back to the club by former coach Kevin Walters just days before Walters was removed from his position, with Maguire taking over and keeping Te'o on.

The development comes as the club has been wrapped up in a high-profile dispute with former captain Gorden Tallis, escalating to the point the club removed his name from a meeting room named in his honour.

Back when he was first appointed in 2024, Te'o said the following of working with Maguire.

"It feels like home for me. Walking through the building, it just feels comfortable," Te’o said in 2024.

"Ten years ago, Madge and I got to do something special together as coach and player.

"Now there’s an opportunity for us with our shared values to have a good year, this time around as Coach and Assistant."
