Kane Cornes has a bone to pick with the Melbourne Football Club.
Despite recently purchasing a Demons membership, Cornes has the club in his sights in relation to the mystery surrounding the Harrison Petty injury.
The defender needed to compose himself after taking a kick-in during his side’s narrow triumph over then Brisbane Lions at the MCG last Sunday.
He crouched down before suggesting to nearby teammates he was dizzy, and soon came from the ground with the assistance of trainers.
Petty has been ruled out of tonight’s Anzac Eve clash with Richmond but nobody really knows why as his injury and estimated return are both listed as ‘TBC’.
That’s why Cornes has the Dees in the gun.
“Well, I cannot believe this. The Harrison Petty situation last week was really concerning where he kicked the footy, and then I didn't know what had happened to him,” Cornes said on SEN’s Fireball.
“No one did really, but it was really alarming.
“We don't have any update, zero update in nearly a week since that issue has happened. Now, when it first happened, they thought it may have been a delayed concussion.
“So he's out of the side and we don't know why.”
Cornes continued: “There's zero transparency as to what is happening with Harrison Petty.
“AFL.com.au is reporting that Melbourne says the injury is TBC, estimated return, TBC.
“You can't make that up.”
Co-host David King asked: “What's TBC about? Are they unsure of the injury?”
Cornes asked for more transparency from the club, as he always does with injuries.
“They must be. But give us a little bit more than TBC five days after the injury happened,” he added.
“You're telling me they have zero information to provide the game and the Melbourne supporters than TBC with an estimated return of TBC.
“I’ve been hot on this for a long period of time. I'm not going to let it go when clubs take the absolute ‘you know what’ out of injury reports when they're supposed to be giving real-time information consistently.
“This should be an absolute fine for the Melbourne Football Club.
“Now I love my Demons, I'm a paid-up member, but this isn't going to cut it and I've been consistent with all clubs.
“That's not good enough to have that as TBC.
“It’s really alarming that that could happen to a player on the field and we've got no knowledge of what has led to those pretty confronting scenes with Harrison Petty trying to regather his feet after that turnover.
“So in the gun is Melbourne and their ridiculous injury report.”
