Morris: Renegades contemplating move away from Marvel Stadium

The Melbourne Renegades are seriously contemplating moving away from Marvel Stadium for the first time in the franchise’s 15-year history. 

The club is exploring playing home games at one or more of the MCG, Kardinia Park or the soon-to-be-floodlit Junction Oval. 

In BBL|15, the Renegades played two home games in Geelong and three at Marvel Stadium.

The Renegades are also keen to be part of the BBL’s expansion into India. 

It’s understood conversations have been amicable between the club and Marvel Stadium, which the venue offering the ‘Gades a one-year extension for next summer.

A decision is set to be made in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Cricket Victoria has made a host of key re-signings.

It’s understood young guns Ollie Peake and Campbell Kellaway - both out of contract - are now locked for three years.

Veteran Peter Handscomb, who scored more Shield runs than any other player this season, has penned a two-year deal. 

Sam Elliott, Blake Macdonald, Dylan Brasher and Tom Rogers have also signed two-year contracts with the state.
