Can Bula justify his multi-million dollar deal?

Have the Wests Tigers overpaid for Jahream Bula?

That’s the question Greg Alexander has pondered, believing the 24-year-old needs to be more consistent to justify his new contract.

Having scored five tries, five try assists and averaging 171 run metres from seven games, the fullback is having his best season to date.

And with Bula only having a player option in his contract after this year, the club has reportedly secured his services for the long term on a multi-million dollar deal despite interest from rival clubs.

He now joins the likes of Taylan and Terrell May as the latest players to re-commit their future with the Tigers after Jarome Luai’s bombshell move to the PNG Chiefs for the 2028 season.

Alexander believes that Bula's form, before his shoulder injury, did justify his multi-million dollar deal.

But wonders if he can play like that on a more consistent basis.

“The form of Jahream Bula over the last three weeks warrants that type of contract,” Alexander said on SEN’s Kick Off.

“But only if he maintains that form. Jahream Bula, at his best, is an outstanding player.

“But Jahream, last year, I'm thinking, really, a million dollars for Jahream.

“Jahream promises a lot and he has delivered over the last few weeks without doubt.

“But is that just the timing of what was coming up?"

Bula will miss the next two to three weeks while the Tigers are off to Melbourne this Sunday to face the Storm at AAMI Park.

SEN League will have live coverage of the match available on SEN’s radio network and on the SEN app from 12pm AEST with NRL Crunch Time.

Kick-off takes place at 2pm.
