David Gately has provided his best bets for Sandown and Randwick on Saturday.
See Gator's Game Plan below:
SANDOWN (Hillside) - Race 3 No.6 - THE VOLTA - Terrific return (beat Milos Filos clearly) then ridden too warm for mine 2nd-up. Ran similar splits home to potential G1 filly Concord Connie last week. Ready to win.
RANDWICK - Race 7 No.11 - KING OF THE SEA - Fabulous Oz debut running home in some of days best splits in worst part of the track then forced wide Gosford and love way he attacked the line. Ready to win!
SANDOWN (Hillside) - Race 5 No.8 - BLETHYN - Gelded and won 3 of 4 this prep at 1000m and was trapped wide in the miss (at 1050m). Don’t mind wide gate here for sprint starts and the $18 early looks big!
Sandown - Race 8 - BM100 - 1400m
1 - 13 - KING ZEPHYR - Lame fresh then home hard Flem 2nd-up when 5-weeks between runs. Unbeaten (3 for 3) here and 3kg on Big Swinger helps.
2 - 12 - BIG SWINGER - Very good fresh then 5-weeks off himself into Flem and sprinted better than King Zephyr, and held him off. Assume wide gates are ok? Up in weights but can win again.
3 - 5 - RECON - Excellent win/ finale in Hareeba then ran super in G1 Goodwood. Has beaten Big Swinger. Is gate 2 OK .. If so, he can certainly win!
4 - 10 - MERIDIUS - Often underrated and yep, gone up $21 here. Hardly advantaged in G1 Goodwood back at 1200m. Best Big Swinger fresh then very good in G3 Vic Hcp at 1400m. In my quad!
5 - 9 - BRAVE ONE - Great chase/ win when only 2nd-up latest and unbeaten 1400m.
6 - 7 - EL ROCKO - Nailed late by Brave One latest when back on preferred wet ground… Can win wet, risk dry?
