With AJ Brimson considering his NRL future, Justin Horo believes the Gold Coast Titans should explore a potential swap.

After nine seasons with the Titans, the English representative on Thursday was granted permission to leave the Titans despite his contract concluding in 2030.

Following the news, it was reported that several clubs are in for Brimson’s services, such as expansion sides PNG Chiefs and Perth Bears alongside the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

Speaking about the potential destinations he could land at, Horo thinks the Titans should consider swapping his contract for another player on the Dogs.

“A team that needs a fullback, in my opinion or could use an upgrade is…how about Brimson to (the) Dogs?” Horo explained on SEN’s The Run Home with Joel and Fletch.

“(You swap) Connor Tracey with a little bit of money from the Bulldogs coming back towards the Titans.”

Should this move take place, this could pose a positional issue for Tracey.

Having spent his three seasons with the Bulldogs predominantly in the No. 1 jersey, he would have to play elsewhere, with Keano Kini being Gold Coast’s preferred choice at fullback.

But Horo pointed to his experience across a range of positions across the backs, essentially taking up Brimson’s position in the starting 13.

“Wing or centre and then he can back-up fullback if you need him.”

Whilst a move to the Dogs could help bolster the Bulldogs' spine, which has struggled, Bryan Fletcher is unsure whether they could afford his contract.

“If the Dogs are only offering Jacob Preston $600,000, AJ is on $900,000 a year,” he said.

“I don't think AJ Brimson is on the Dogs’ radar.”

Brimson has been named in the starting line-up for the club’s clash against the Sharks on Sunday at Cbus Super Stadium.

SEN League will have live coverage of the match across our radio network and on the SEN app from 12pm AEST with Crunch Time NRL. Kick-off is set for 2pm.
