Trade talk: Star Magpie once again weighing up playing future

Jordan De Goey is once again weighing up his playing future.

De Goey’s management has contacted rival clubs to gauge interest in the midfielder, who is coming off his best season since 2023.

De Goey, 30, is out of contract at Collingwood at the end of next year. It is unclear whether these club approaches are to create leverage for a new Pies deal or represent an appetite to move.

De Goey is understood to have some interest in finishing his career in Tasmania with the Devils where he would reunite with long-time Collingwood list and recruiting guru Derek Hine.

But in truth, the Collingwood premiership player has been the subject of strong trade speculation for many seasons.

Rumours swirled last year and he has been chased by St Kilda twice in recent years.

Collingwood already looms as one of the busiest clubs in the upcoming trade and free agency windows.

The Magpies today delisted six players, with Joel Cochran, Wil Parker, Mitch Podhajski, Jakob Ryan, Iliro Smit and Lachie Sullivan all told they would not be receiving new contracts.

Scott Pendlebury has left for Gold Coast, while Steele Sidebottom has retired and Bobby Hill has parted ways with the club.

The nine departures come as the club prepares to bring in Lachie Neale and competes for the signature of Jesse Hogan.

Hogan is also weighing up interest from Carlton and Gold Coast.
