Pressure Cooker: The teams under the most pressure in September

With the final eight teams locked into September ahead of a wild second round of finals, Tom Morris and Kane Cornes have ranked the teams under the most pressure to perform this weekend.

Whether it’s a dip in form, high expectations, coaches’ positions on the line or a team that has already overachieved, finals footy brings pressure for a whole host of reasons.

This round of finals will play an influential role on the outlook of teams’ future, therefore the pressure will be on for many clubs to win this week.

Morris ranked his teams from the least amount of pressure to the most amount pressure going into the second round of finals on SEN’s Locked In.

8. Sydney

“Sydney are under the least pressure this weekend," he said.

“No one expects anything from the Swans.”

7. Brisbane

“They have won the last two flags.

“They're expected to win but I don’t think it's terminal in anyway if they lose.”

6. Hawthorn

“I don’t think that the Hawks are under huge pressure to go straight to a prelim.”

5. Carlton

“No one is expecting anything from Carlton this year.

“So, if they lose to Geelong at the MCG were going to say well done Blues, you have had an amazing year.”

4. Geelong

“I don’t know what to make of Geelong, do we expect them to win a flag or do we expect them to be bundled out?”

3. Western Bulldogs

“They won a final last week, but they need to win another final to justify the build that they are on.”

2. Fremantle

“Freo can’t have the year they have had and be one loss away from going out in straight sets.”

1. Adelaide

“This is the team under the most pressure this weekend, lose and you're gone.

“Coach on the line.”
