French footballing superstar Kylian Mbappe has been caught up in an extraordinary kidnapping scandal with a teenager allegedly plotting his abduction.
According to reports out of Europe, an 18-year-old planned the heist against Mbappe and a host of other high-profile people in France from inside prison.
The teen, named only as “Clement L” allegedly ran a gang through snapchat while in jail for pimping and armed robbery.
Authorities are believed to have found a list of 26 identities being targeted by the gang, Mbappe being the most high profile.
“This young man was already in prison for serious offenses, and now he is turning up in a new case involving a rapper and a renowned footballer,” the Advocate General told the court after the latest allegations.
“Only solitary confinement in prison can make him understand the reality of the situation, given the chaotic, criminal life he leads.”
The teen’s criminal record includes two convictions for drug-related offences and one for violent robbery.
According to Le Parisien newspaper, Real Madrid star Mbappe “appeared on a list found on phones seized from the suspect's cell, alongside wealthy businesspeople and figures from the rap world.”
Mbappe is yet to comment on the ordeal.
