Trade Bell: The three clubs circling for former Coleman Medallist

With the AFL season reaching the pointy end, attention is quickly turning towards the upcoming Trade Period.

Jesse Hogan

“So, Jesse Hogan will make a call in the next week where he wants to play next year,” Morris told SEN’s Crunch Time.

“The Pies, the Suns and the Blues are the three clubs that he's weighing up.

“They're all prepared to offer two- or three-year deals.

“We know that he used to live with Lachie Schultz, but he'll spend the next week weighing all this up.

Lachie Neale

“Lachie Neale has made up his mind. He wants to play for Collingwood next year.

“So that's a formality given that he's an unrestricted free agent.”

Nick Blakey

“The news from Sam McClure a couple of days ago (is) that Nick Blakey wants out of the Sydney Swans.

“Look, probably the best way to describe this is (that) there is some bad blood between the player and the club from both sides.

“The Swans clearly are unhappy with Blakey, and Blakey's clearly unhappy with the Swans. So, there is that erosion of trust.

“I don't think there is any coming back from where things are regardless of whether charges are laid or not. I can't imagine Blakey being at the Swans next year.

“It would be a surprise to see him not being elsewhere next year, pending the situation.

“The legal situation makes it really complicated.”

Zac Bailey

“Nick Butler reported that he's staying at the Brisbane Lions.

“If that is the case, then the Lions don't know, Adelaide doesn't know, some teammates are unaware.

“Maybe he's told others that I'm unaware of, maybe he's made up his mind and told one or two people, but I'm yet to find those people.

“The Zac Bailey situation as far as I can see is still very much up in the air.

“And I did say last week, if he hasn't recommitted by the time the Brisbane Lions start their finals campaign, I'd be concerned.

“And there's no doubt, speaking to people at the Lions this week, there is a level of concern.”

Joel Amartey

“This has become real now for the player and the club.

“If it stays like what it is at the moment, I think he goes to Carlton.

“If the Swans end up shifting some money and open up some more cash for him, then he wants to stay.

“But there's too big a gap at the moment for him to ignore the five-year deal that the Blues are offering.

“And then what Hayden McLean does if he decides to stay is probably another question, even though McLean is contracted.”

Zak Butters

“I'm prepared to say (on Saturday morning) that Zak Butters, in a perfect world, would like to play for Geelong next year.

“I don't think that's necessarily new news; that's been floated elsewhere that Geelong is his preferred destination.

“But this is not a perfect world, and that is why the Western Bulldogs are still very much in this.

“There is also a view from people close to the situation that the Dogs are more willing to bend over backwards to find the draft picks to satisfy Port Adelaide, which is why they're still in it.

“Richmond is the fallback there as well. Not completely out of it, but clearly a distant third.”

Rowan Marshall

“Rowan Marshall (is) hoping to get a formal offer from Geelong in the coming week or so.

“He'd ideally like to stay in Victoria. If not Geelong, the Bulldogs is his next best option.

“The plan right now is to play a straight bat for Rowan Marshall. He hasn't fully formally requested a trade.

“Him and Ross Lyon haven't gelled amazingly. They didn't bring him in on the conversations around TDK (Tom De Koning), who's on a million dollars or more.

“And that in the end is meaning that Marshall would like to get out.”

The Trade Period begins on October 5 and concludes on October 14.

The Free Agency Period opens on October 2 and closes on October 9.
