Kane Cornes’ countdown is in, and this time he has taken an axe to things he doesn’t want to see or hear in the 2027 AFL season.

Cornes listed 10 of his biggest footy gripes, ranging from commentator calls to headbands, and more.

Check out Kane’s big top 10 from SEN Breakfast below.

10 – Asking a radio host, ‘How are you?’

“At number 10, when you ring a radio station, and you want to have your say, which we encourage, it’s very much a natural reaction to ask the hosts, ‘How are you?’,” Cornes said on SEN Breakfast.

“We don't need it. It just gets a bit repetitive when you get asked for the 20th time.

“So, at number 10, you don't need to ask a radio host how they are; they're great. They will say, ‘Good’.”

9 – Saying, ‘Insert player should be in the All-Australian team’, before Round 13

“At number 9, saying, ‘Insert player should be in the All-Australian team’, before Round 13.

“That’s the line. It’s the easiest opinion people that are on radio and TV have.

“‘Such and such should be in the All-Australian contention’, and we're like at Round 5…

“I don't want to see anyone talk about All-Australians until post-Round 13 when we have a proper body of work.”

8 – Sam Darcy in the ruck

“At number eight, Sam Darcy in the ruck.

“We'll never see it again. If we see it, heads should be rolling at the Western Bulldogs.   “I don't care who it is, just not Sam Darcy.”

7 – Big calls from non-controlling umpires

“At number 7, I just want to see a lot less of non-controlling umpires.

“I'm not saying that you can never blow your whistle. But it has to be absolutely certain that the controlling umpire has missed the free kick.

“So, to the non-controlling umpires… pull your head in.”

6 – Taking any notice of AFLPA statements

“At number six is taking any notice of AFL Players Association statements.

“Don't worry about them; use them to start your fire.

“Print them out, scrunch them up, put it underneath your kindling, light it. That's about all they are good for, AFL Players Association statements.

“I don’t want to see them, don't want to read them, don't want to hear about them.

“Whoever writes them, don't bother, don't waste your time.”

5 – Headbands

“At number 5 are headbands.

“Cut your hair, it’s not that important. If it's in your eyes, cut it… so no headband needed.

“Jy Simpkin, cut your hair, your hair's not that good, it's not that good, it's not worth it. If your hair's in your eyes, cut it.

“The amount of times they like adjust their headbands and play with their headbands…”

4 – The word ‘fascinating’

“At four is the word fascinating, I don't want to hear about it no more.”

3 – Journos using too much Champion Data

“At four, I've seen a lot of this creep in, and it’s AFL news breaking journalists using way too much Champion Data, way too much.

“You'll notice this now. Journalists will say, ‘Nick Blakey's the number one rated general defender in football according to Champion Data’.

“I don't care. Leave that for the analysts. The journos break news, give us information, give us facts.”

2 – Debut announcement videos

“At number two is debut announcement videos, they're done.

“It's been a good 10 years of debut videos posted to socials.

“They've run their race, they've been terrific, they've been awesome… now we need a club to come up with the next version of what happens for a debut, and it can't be one of those cringe videos anymore.”

1 – AFLW experts, analysts, commentators and supporters saying, ‘It wouldn’t happen in the men’s game’

“At number one, the reason I put this list together is AFLW experts, analysts, commentators and supporters saying it wouldn't happen in the men's game.

“Now I thought the slogan this year was, ‘Our game, Our rules’.

“It is a completely different offering. Don't worry about the men's game when you're focusing on the AFLW.

“You don't need to say, ‘It wouldn't happen in the men's game’.”
