Everything you need to know for NFL Melbourne

It’s been a year and a half in the making, but the NFL’s first regular-season game in Australia is just around the corner.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the big game.

What day does it take place?

The match will be played on the 11th of September (Friday morning.

Where is it being played?

The match is being held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The stadium has a capacity of 100,024, making it the 11th biggest stadium in the world.

Who is playing?

The Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers will be the two teams battling it out at the MCG.

Both teams reside in the same division (NFC West) and made the playoffs last season, making the match a true spectacle.

What time does it kick off?

The match begins at 10:35am AEST (Melbourne time).

For American fans tuning in, it will see the game begin 5:35pm on Thursday in Los Angeles on the West Coast or 8:35pm in New York on the East Coast.

Where can I watch and listen?

Channel 7 will be the exclusive free-to-air broadcaster of the match in Australia.

Disney+ also has a broadcast of the match on its streaming services through ESPN.  

Netflix will also have a broadcast of the match on its platform.

SEN will be the exclusive radio broadcaster with Gerard Whateley, Jordan Kounelis and Ben Graham calling the game across its radio network and on the SEN app.

That can be heard from 9am AEST, with fans at the MCG able to listen with no delay with SEN Stadium.

Fans at home can sync up the call with the TV footage using SEN Sync on the app.

Are tickets still available?

There are still tickets available on Ticketmaster, but they will set you back.

The cheapest ticket available on the site is $330, which is right at the very back of the Shane Warne Stand, with the most expensive being $935.

Who are the players to watch out for each side?

Both rosters have some absolute star power.

For the Rams, they have the reigning MVP Matthew Stafford as their quarterback alongside the reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, who will make his regular-season debut for Los Angeles at the MCG.

The 49ers feature the likes of star running back Christian McCaffrey, who won the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year as well 3x First Team All-Pro offensive tackle Trent Williams.
