"Gotta have a look": Star Lion on the receiving end of brutal bump

It's only taken a couple of seconds, but there is plenty of drama brewing at the MCG between Hawthorn and Brisbane for their preliminary final clash.

Straight from the opening bounce, Brisbane's Lachie Neale found himself on the receiving end of a Jai Newcombe bump, which saw the star midfielder on the field with play stopped.

During the replays, Newcombe's bum appeared to make contact with the two-time Brownlow Medallist's head, which could result in some MRO headaches,

But despite the potential head contact, Neale was not immediately taken off the field for a HIA, leaving some questions within SEN Footy's commentary box about the situation.

Gerard Healy: "There's a chance two people won't be available next week.

"It was half accident, but then he half leaned into him."

Andy Maher: "It was accidental, wasn't it, Gerard?"

Adam Simpson: "He braced himself."

Healy: "He braced, but it's hard to say it was deliberate."

Simpson: "Lachie Neale on the move, as Brisbane do in centre ball-ups, they run set plays and I think Newcombe saw him coming and just braced himself."

Dwayne Russell: "Good news is he's up. So it might not be a head injury of the concussion end of the scale."

Simpson: "How can they not take him off for that?"

"It's part of the HIA. You've gotta have a look."

Neale would later go to the bench but has continued playing.
