Winners & losers from Caulfield Cup barrier draw

The 2026 Caulfield Cup takes place this coming Saturday at Caulfield.

The 2400m Group 1 handicap is worth $6 million and this year's running is the milestone 150th edition.

The barrier draw occurred on Tuesday morning with favourite Cosmic Crusader drawing wide in barrier 17.

Harry Charlton trained import Wine Dark Sea is set to jump from 19 and Joseph O'Brien's Starford has drawn 15.

Defending champ Half Yours will jump from gate 7.

Form expert Mick Gannon has provided a brief overview of who will benefit and who will be harmed the most by the 2026 Caulfield Cup barrier draw.

Winners

Enfjaar (1)

“Drawn barrier one, and he has got tactical versatility, and he can hold a forward position in the run,” he said.

“That’s a tick.”

Zahrann (4)

“Another tick, can bounce back on a dry deck.”

Half Yours (7)

“He may need a little wetter, but barrier seven is absolutely ideal though.”

Royal Supremacy (8)

“A key speed influence in the race, and well barrier eight is absolutely perfect.

Kingswood (20) & Wine Dark Sea (19)

“They could come in a few with scratchings or emergencies not taking their place.”

“But wide out, I’d expect Kingswood and Wine Dark Sea to come across and challenge Royal Supremacy for the lead.”

“And I think they should be able to get there with ease.”

Losers

Cosmic Crusader (17)

“That is a negative, I think they would have loved to draw a middle to low barrier to give him the opportunity to settle midfield with cover.”

“They are going to have to go back now. They are going to need luck in transit.”

Knight's Choice (22)

“On the seven-day backup, Knight's Choice is another loser from this barrier draw.”
