I wanted to look at Richmond and their pursuit of Zak Butters. It's what Bill Simmons would call the ‘now you tell’; the story of what actually happened. After the fact and you get all the information.

I was really interested in the fact Blair Hartley was the figure head behind the Butters piece.

Of all the people I could send from my club; Hawks sent Sam Mitchell on a plane to meet with perspective stars, Bulldogs wheeling out Disney executives, coaches and former players and their best ever.

We’ve got Geelong wheeling out Dangerfield and whoever else, Craig McRae at Collingwood jumping on planes, going everywhere and Nick Daicos is involved.

Richmond thought, you know who is out best recruiter? Our best figure? Blair Hartley. All due respect to Blair, he is a great operator, but if he walked past you in the street you would have no idea who he is.

Richmond thought 'our last ditch attempt to go and get the game’s biggest free agent, we’re going to send Blair to Adelaide'.

What are we doing?

Give me anyone - Riewoldt - I would take him over Hartley, send the coach! At least send Yze, send Lalor, send your youngsters.

Their last Hail Mary was Blair Hartley.

Other than Lalor sending a couple of texts, what did Richmond do?

It has to be the coach; for me I want to hear from the coach. How many premiership players have the Tigers got?
