George Stevens is set for an AFL lifeline with the Tasmania Devils.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who was recently delisted by Geelong, has signed for Tassie’s VFL team for 2027.
Additionally, SEN’s Tom Morris is reporting that Stevens will also commit to the Devils beyond next year for the new franchise’s AFL entry in 2028.
Stevens has joined Tassie’s seven 17-year-olds who were officially signed in late September.
Morris reported: “Former Cat George Stevens will play for the Tasmania AFL club in 2028.
“He’s committing beyond the VFL in 2027 and will formally put pen to paper when the rules allow down the track.”
Stevens was the joint winner of the JJ Liston Trophy as the VFL’s best and fairest player alongside Frankston’s Trent Mynott in 2026. He also won the Cats' VFL B&F.
He played four senior games over three seasons for the Cats after being selected with Pick 58 in the 2023 draft.
Stevens joins former Cats development guru Nigel Lappin at the Devils.
